LOCAL CONCERT ALERT (Tym Morrison), Evans Blue Fallout, And Much More!!

We've got more news and notes to share on this Wednesday morning, so what's on tap for this news post? Today, we have the latest news from a new local thrash band (including their new bassist), the complete lineup of a major Halloween weekend concert event, and the first videos from a recent Kewadin Casino concert, but first, here's a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT for later this month!

Caveman Morrison frontman Tym Morrison has added another acoustic solo concert to his October schedule, and it will see him return to The Eagles Club one week from Saturday! Over a year & a half since his bi-weekly concert arrangement at the Old Trout Lake Road venue dried up, he'll head back up north for an unplugged concert of unplugged metal & hard rock hits on October 13th, so if you live up near Christie's Camper Sales (or are up for the drive), add this show to Tym's busy month of local gigs! A 9:00 PM start time is advertised for this concert, but no age limits or cover charge are advertised. For more details, visit the official Facebook event page! It's good to see Tym rocking The Eagles Club again, and hopefully this packed month will just be the start of more shows from his local projects, so stay tuned for updates, including his Steamy Bean debut on Friday!

Next up, here's the first videos that I've found from Saturday night's Evans Blue-headlined benefit concert at the Sault Ste. Marie Kewadin Casino! On Monday night, YouTube user Chris Paci (the same guy who uploaded the new Buckcherry concert videos) posted 4 videos from Evans Blue's headlining set onto his YouTube channel, and they include the Toronto hard rock band playing their original songs "Bulletproof", "Over", "Live To Die", and their new album's opening tracks together ("This Time It's Different" & "Crawl Inside"), so click each link to check them out! Overall, the video quality is worse than his Buckcherry videos (very blurry & jittery), but the audio quality's pretty good, and you can make out their catchy melodic hard rock songs pretty well! Hopefully some more videos turn up from this show (including of the opening bands), but check out Chris' videos above, here's Evans Blue playing "This Time It's Different" & "Crawl Inside", and stay tuned for more concert fallout when & if it comes in!

Thirdly today, here's the latest lineup updates on the seventh annual Halloween Party concert from local promoter J.D. Pearce, which moves to The Algonquin Pub on October 27th! The full lineup for the concert has been confirmed via the party's Facebook event page (and this awesome poster from Kevin Powe), and unlike it's past years at the old Coch's Corner, there will 4 bands rather than 3, and one of them is the original crash band themselves, Sykotyk Rampage! The alternative improvised hard rock quartet will make their first concert appearance in almost 3 months for this Halloween party, and their fun drinking songs and diverse originals should draw a crowd in their Algonquin Pub debut! Note that I don't know yet who will be on bass (be it Brian Cattapan, fill-in bassist Tony Briglio, or no one), but hopefully we'll find out sooner or later! The fourth band are actually now the advertised headliners, and they are The Fairmounts, a newer Toronto-based pop punk band who are fronted by veteran local musician Mikey Hawdon! (Lion Ride, Inner City Surfers, etc.) This is one of two local dates that Mikey's playing this month, including the return of his Green Day tribute band The Dookies at The Rockstar Bar next weekend, so you punk lovers (and fans of Mikey's musical work) will probably be very excited!

The Fairmounts remind me of if Lion Ride was all punk, and they should impress in their local debut, so don't miss them at The Algonquin on October 27th! Note as well that this will now be the first Halloween show in this series in many years (if not ever) without the one-off cover band that played each year at Coch's Corner, but hopefully this won't be the absolute last we've heard from them as a unit! Remember to hit this yearly Halloween tradition on October 27th (alongside Frightlight and The Brews, a.k.a. Redundant covering NOFX), so stay tuned for updates, and don't forget your costumes!

And finally for today, here's the latest news from new local thrash metal band Pillory! First, in very exciting lineup news, the guys have enlisted former Late & Loud guitarist Jonathan Tiberi as their new bassist, which is very intriguing in itself! He was quietly added to their lineup on their Facebook page within the last week. I'm unfamiliar with Jon's bass skills, but it's great to see him back in a new band so soon after Late & Loud's breakup/hiatus began, and hopefully he adds well to Pillory going forward! That said, Pillory are hard at work at writing new originals (including a song named "No One Answers" that has yet to be revealed), but their newest video (uploaded to guitarist Robert Sartini's YouTube channel on Monday) is another clip of them (minus Jon) playing their song "Fatal Woods". That said, the video quality is much better, thanks to Wesley Fecteau's filming of the performance and the better camera used, so we have a better glimpse of Pillory in action, and of the promise their thrash metal sound is providing! Check out the newest Pillory video below, and stay tuned for more updates from them as they come in!

That's probably all for today, but stay tuned for weekend concert previews and more news in the next few days! Thanks everyone!
