Anvil Concert Video Showcase!!

Today's post is 100% devoted to new video postings from last weekend's Anvil concert at The Canadian Nightclub, as frequent local concert attendee Christopher Paci was on hand once again to get lots of footage for his YouTube channel! Uploaded on Thursday and Friday, he got 3 videos of Anvil and one each of the opening bands, but for the sake of spreading things out and not making this post too long, I'll hold our full feature of Project 421 video (a cover of Iron Maiden's "Powerslave") for an upcoming post, so look for it then! Now, let's take a look at the Anvil videos first, as Christopher filmed Anvil's songs "March of the Crabs", "Metal on Metal", and (as embedded below) "Thumb Hang" from this entertaining concert, so how'd they turn out? Chris got a good angle of Anvil, and he captures Steve "Lips" Kudlow's crowd invasion well from the start of the set, but the vocals on his camera aren't very audible. Solid work as usual though, so check out "Thumb Hang" below, and more at the above links!



Next from the show is Christopher's footage of fellow Toronto metallers Caym playing their originals "Corvus" and "Tighter Than Your Dad's Boots", followed by some solo sections by band members, though it cuts off during Tyler Reiner's drum solo. Nice extended video that has a more central angle, though there are more fan heads in the line of fire than his angle for the Anvil videos had. He captured Caym's hardcore intensity nicely, so check out the full video below, or go to individual songs above!



Moving to local bands, Christopher's video of local punk/metal quintet Jack Spades was of their cover of SNFU's "Drunk on a Bike" (which was a late addition, replacing a cover of The Misfits' "Helena" on their setlist for that night.) The camera angle is further here, so fan heads are more of an issue (especially when trying to see Justin Lam), but it's another nice video for fans of J.D.'s local projects and hardcore punk, so check it out below, and stay tuned soon for more Jack Spades/Anvil-related media coverage!



Finally for today, Chris' video of local hard rock quartet The Suicide Kings was of their original song "Beaten Down" (I believe that's it's name), which benefits in a sense from the low turnout of fans on the floor, as we do get a zoomed in full angle of the band in action! Mike Gaetano's vocals are hard to hear in the verses, but it's a nice clip otherwise, and their talent and chemistry comes through again, so give their video a look below!
