LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (Lotus Land, Teethmarks, Banned, And Long Shot!!)

Keeping the busy recent news and notes going, here's a concert dedicated solely to LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS for this month, and leading off, we have a SHORT NOTICE show for TONIGHT, so here's what you should know on that and three more upcoming dates on both sides of the border!

Kinross, Michigan hard/classic rock trio Banned will return to The Runway Bar in Hessel for one night only TONIGHT! Apologies for the short notice, the band first announced the show on their Facebook page on June 4th but it slipped us by until now. This show will be Banned's first in Hessel this year, and it's great to see the Traynors and Wayne playing at some non-Kewadin venues within an hour of the Soo again! For reference, Banned's Facebook page also notes that frontman Alex Traynor played an acoustic solo set at yesterday's Tahquamenon Music Festival in Newberry, which may or may not be linked to why Banned didn't play at The Runway Bar yesterday. TONIGHT'S show has a 9:00 PM start time, no announced cover charge, and a 21+ age limit. For more details, visit the above links, and here's Banned live earlier this year!

Next up, Massachusetts-based Rush tribute band Lotus Land will hit The Dreammaker's Theatre at the Sault Michigan Kewadin Casino on Sunday, June 21st (one week from tomorrow!) Usually, hard rock tribute bands in our area are playing in Sault Ontario, so this is a nice change of pace, especially as we don't see a whole lot of Rush tributes, so fans of these progressive rock legends should pay attention! Lotus Land are a well known tribute band that has been selected by fans to play at the annual RushCon festival twice, and they definitely have a faithful looking and sounding show that any Rush fan should be impressed by! Tickets for the show are just $12.50 and can be bought at this link, at 1-800-KEWADIN, or at the in-person box office, and they haven't been moving fast, so great seats are available! The show is presumably all ages, and a 7:00 PM start time is advertised. For more details, visit the above links, and don't miss Lotus Land next weekend if you love Rush!

Moving to Sault Ontario, Toronto hardcore punk crossover quartet Teethmarks will make their local concert debut on Wednesday, July 24th at The Rednecks Saloon! A grimy but intense band who mix styles into one relentless blend of original metal, Teethmarks have made a solid following for themselves throughout the early 2010s, and they should brutalize fans in the Soo on the 24th! Local support will come from alternative hard rock trio The Pixo Control in what I think will be their debut at the former Nicolet Tavern, and while they're not a perfect genre match, their talent speaks for itself, so don't miss their rising originals in their first show since their big fundraiser! Note that this is not the Teethmarks show that was teased in AlgomA's interview with Metalhead.it, which was mentioned as taking place on July 4th with AlgomA and Destroilet opening. Teethmarks are now playing in Sudbury that day (source here), so the local July date was either cancelled or rescheduled with new openers.

Promoted by Destroilet singer Brenton Ellis (though a deleted earlier Facebook event page also credited Mitch Sirie in this role), this concert one week from Wednesday will be FREE (that's right, FREE), and have a 10:00 PM start time, but it will be a 19+ event. For more details, visit this link, and don't miss Teethmarks and The Pixo Control later this month! It may be a Wednesday, but it'll be a good one!

Finally for this all-new concert post, The Rockstar Bar will welcome four local bands on Friday, June 26th (one week from Friday) for what they're calling their Summer Bash! The listed bands include local hard rock quartet Long Shot (in their first show since their solo Rockstar Bar gig last month), classic metal quartet Project 421 (in what will likely be their debut with their mystery new drummer), new local punk quartet Stereo North, and new local hair metal/power pop trio Caroline Divine, both of whom will be making their first ever appearances at this venue. Solid lineup with some newer and fast-rising bands, so definitely keep this concert in mind! A live DJ is also hyped for this event, presumably to spin tunes between bands, but they're not credited on the Facebook event page. The Summer Bash will also feature prizes and giveaways all night long, and the patio will be open as well, so if you want to partake in a drink, there you go!

An early start time of 8:00 PM is advertised for this show, which will be a 19+ affair, and though there's no advertised cover charge, bring at least $5 just in case. For more details, visit the above links! Nice to see these bands joining together to help ring in the "official" start of summer, so circle this one on your calendars, and stay tuned for possible updates!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more news and updates this week! Thanks everyone!
