LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (Project 906 & The 3 Day Millionaires), A Weekend Concert Preview, And Much More!!

For your Friday morning news and notes, we have a fairly packed post featuring big updates concerning a thought-cancelled show later this month and it's major changes, one last concert preview for this weekend (barring anything announced on short notice), and first, LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS for this & next month, so here's what you should know!

New local classic/hard rock cover quartet The 3 Day Millionaires are advertised to play at The Park Grille as the third live band there on Friday, April 15th (one week from today!), followed by later Friday nighters on May 13th & 20th! The band hasn't publically acknowledged the gigs yet, or posted on their Facebook page in two weeks, but this poster from the venue confirms the dates. Last seen at The Rednecks Saloon last month, this new union of Thrill Junkies, Wishbone, and Boxcar Junction alumni should deliver well at this relatively new addition to the local concert scene, so keep these free one-nighters in mind! Note that The 3 Day Millionaires were also advertised to play tonight at The Park Grille, but were quietly replaced by guitarist Jeremey Salatuk's old band Lucky 13 for unannounced reasons. Given the Millionaires' recent online quietness, was that band switch a sign of anything to come? We'll let you know if we hear anything!

In any event, these three shows have early 8:00 PM start times, no announced cover charges, and no listed age limits (but remember that this is a restaurant.) For more details on these and other shows in the Industrial Park Crescent's spring concert run, visit the above links!

Next up, new Sault Michigan hard/blues rock quartet Project 906 will play their fourth public concert when they bring hard rock back to Bay Mills Resort & Casino in Brimley for a show TOMORROW NIGHT  at their on-site tavern The Back Bay Grill & Games! Also, with the Ten Kings successors already no strangers to playing unfamiliar venues, their fifth show will take place on Friday, April 22nd when they play a rare hard rock concert set at The Strongs Motel & Tavern in nearby Eckerman! Both shows mark our first covered concert at either venue on the SMS, but The Back Bay has attracted notice as the only waterfront bar in the E.U.P., while The Strongs Tavern (which was recently bought by new owners) has been trying live bands in recent months. I wonder if the Werehold Records bands are possible to play in their old stomping grounds too? Tomorrow's Brimley show and April 22nd's Eckerman show are both 21+ events with no announced cover charge.

As for starting times, tomorrow's concert will be at 10:00 PM, but music starts at 9:00 PM at the Strongs Tavern. For more details on each show, visit the official Facebook event pages linked here & here, stay tuned for more on their future shows, and don't miss Project 906 at Bay Mills tomorrow! Here they are in Brimley last month!

Finally, remember how we noted on the site on Wednesday that the Moon King-headlined concert at LopLops Lounge on Thursday, April 21st was cancelled due to the headliners inavailability to make the date? Well, the show is still on, just radically changed from it's original plans! We're considering it to be the same show as Ears & Eyes' Jackson Reed is still promoting it, and local alt-grunge trio The Pixo Control remain on the lineup, but the show is now a complete local stop for their "tour petite" with Tidal Records that will take them through Southern Ontario and Sudbury later this month! To that end, local post-punk quartet Gnaeus and local alternative hard rock quartet Id Iota will both be opening on April 21st, with both bands making their first concert appearances of the new year, and first with their current lineups. For Gnaeus, they will unveil new drummer Alex Proulx, while Id Iota will play their first local set with new bassist Dan Linklater, and will end their nine month long local concert hiatus in the process.

Now, Jackson noted on the new Facebook event page that Id Iota would release their new EP on the 21st, but the band has not confirmed that as of this writing. If we hear anything extra, we'll let you guys know, but keep that tidbit in mind! And, for the sake of clarity, Aldous and Telephone & Address (who were previously listed to open for Moon King on this date, but aren't on the tour) have been removed from the bill, while advertised tour sets by rapper Conika do not include the local show, possibly as her sets are tied to the skateboarding demos. This LopLops-hosted concert remains a 19+ event, but doors now open at 8:30 PM, and there's now a $5 cover charge (the Moon King-headlined lineup would have had no cover and a 9:30 PM start.) This show has had a huge overhaul since it was first announced in February, but a strong lineup of three talented, friendly, and hard-working bands will be sure to entertain in two weeks time! See the above links for more details!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more news and features this weekend! Thanks everyone!
