LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (415E, Tym Morrison, And Soundcheck), Weekend Concert Previews, And More!!

2017 is fully underway now, so let's keep things rolling with this weekend's currently known concert previews! These are entirely SHORT NOTICE LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS, though one does have shows beyond to acknowledge, and we're also tackling some new videos promoting a band's out of town debut (that you can watch online) at post's end as well. Of course, if there's anything announced on even shorter notice, we'll touch on it tomorrow. Now, here's what you should know!

With a new month (and year) upon us, we are adding prolific local hard rock singer/guitarist Tym Morrison's slate of January concerts at Gliss Steak & Seafood to our listings, including gigs TONIGHT, TOMORROW, and SATURDAY, then from January 12th-14th, 19th-21st, and 26th-28th! Apologies for the short notice on this weekend's shows, we were waiting for new confirmation of them before calling them here, and they came via their Facebook event page yesterday. It was fully expected that Tym's long-term arrangement at The Quality Inn's house restaurant would march on into 2017 unabated, and that definitely appears to be the case, so if you want hard rocking acoustic covers, you know where to be three times a week, including TONIGHT, TOMORROW, and SATURDAY! Note that Tym's website is back online after being down for much of 2016, and for what it's worth, the concert calendar there lists him as playing at Gliss weekly through February 2020.

Also, Tym has indicated in personal Facebook postings that he will be back at The Road House Bar & Grill in the spring, and will be debuting at a venue that we've never covered before in the near future, but we'll wait for public confirmation before covering them here (they're not on his website's calendar yet.) As for this month's Gliss shows, they are all 6:00 PM matinees with no announced cover charges or age limits, though remember that this is a restaurant. Check the above links for more details, and here's Tym live!

Next up, the band formerly known by the temporary moniker Nameus will kick off 2017 with a new name, as Soundcheck will hit The Rockstar Bar TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! Again, apologies for the short notice, these shows were only announced a couple of days ago via their Facebook event pages (linked here & here), and no, Soundcheck don't have an online page yet. And yes, there are two event pages, as SATURDAY'S show is a 1980s-themed party with some element of prizes that attendees can win, apparently via a costume contest, so get your tight jeans and hairspray ready! If you're not familiar, Soundcheck feature Mourning Wood's Terry Eaton and Steven Flint alongside Terry's former Carbon Black bandmate Travis Sharpe, and their 1980s-centric sound and hard rock past with bands like Havadder and The Suicide Kings should serve Soundcheck well, as does their new name, so don't miss out at The Rockstar Bar TOMORROW and/or SATURDAY!

Despite the 1980s party-accoutrements for SATURDAY NIGHT, neither show has a cover charge, both are 19+ events, and while each has a listed start time of 8:00 PM, that's likely incorrect, I'd expect both to start after 10:00 PM. Check the above links for more details, and as before, hopefully Soundcheck posts an online page or some videos online at some point!

Also in the realm of new concert announcements, Sault Michigan hard rock quartet 415E will kick off 2017 with shows at The Northern Pines Lounge at the St. Ignace Kewadin Casino TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! Apologies again for the short notice, the band only announced the shows via their Facebook page on Tuesday, and Kewadin's entertainment page has yet to be updated regarding 2017 gigs at their lounges. Fresh off of their New Year's Eve show at the same venue, 415E are the first hard rock band to play an announced E.U.P. concert of 2017, and this union of Nixxon Dixxon, Splitshot, and Highest of Fives alumni should be in fine form with their hard rocking, Van Halen-inspired covers TOMORROW & SATURDAY, so don't miss out if you're on the American side of the border! There are no announced cover charges for this weekend's shows, which have 21+ age limits and 9:00 PM start times. See the above links for more details, and here's 415E live!

Finally, here's a pair of new videos from local alternative/hard rock trio The Din, who will make their well advertised Toronto debut TOMORROW NIGHT! One video (a live posting at the time) features guitarist Tammy Hill drawing the winner of their contest for two free e-tickets to see their set at  Landmark Events' Showcase Festival tomorrow, and congratulations to Charlene Rowlinson for winning! Tammy noted in that video that an e-ticket purchase gets you a video screening of the whole concert (with 18 more bands), not just The Din's set, which is a great value, so keep that in mind! The other video from this morning (embedded below) features drummer Brandan Glew acknowledging that they were soon leaving for tomorrow's show, before mentioning his favourite thing about mornings, Short, and somewhat hard to hear on low volume, but a nice little video before their big gig!

Remember, if you want an e-ticket for the live stream of tomorrow's concert, click here, and remember that they cost $13, just $1 less than in-person admission. See above and below for more details, and good luck in Toronto, hopefully you guys make the semifinals!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more news, notes, and updates soon! Thanks everyone!
