LOCAL CONCERT ALERT (Tym Morrison) & St. Patrick's Day Weekend Concert Previews!!

Another holiday weekend is almost upon us, so which hard rock and punk bands will be playing live in our area in advance of St. Patrick's Day? Find out below, with a SHORT NOTICE LOCAL CONCERT ALERT along for the ride!

Joining his previously announced Gliss Restaurant matinee shows TOMORROW AND SATURDAY and his nighttime Roadhouse Bar & Grill concert TOMORROW NIGHT, former Caveman Morrison frontman Tym Morrison will also play a rare Water Tower Pub concert TONIGHT! Apologies for the short notice, we only heard about TONIGHT's show via Tym's Facebook event page earlier this week, though it was previously advertised on the venue's events calendar. Last seen at The Water Tower Pub three months ago, this will serve as a great way for fans in the central/northern part of town to see Tym's skilled acoustic/hard rock covers, but if you can't make it out TONIGHT, remember that he'll be at The Roadhouse tomorrow for you east-enders, while his long-term Gliss arrangement will bring more unplugged classics to restaurant patrons over these two evenings also!

None of these shows have an announced cover charge, while the Water Tower & Roadhouse shows are 19+, and start at 8:00 & 10:00 PM respectively. Tym's busy slate should offer fans many chances to see his prolific setlist this weekend, so visit the above links and the Facebook event pages linked here & here for more details! Here's Tym live!

Next up, let's take a brief detour to Michigan' Eastern Upper Peninsula, where Traverse City metal trio Scarkazm are scheduled to rock The Northern Pines Lounge at the St. Ignace Kewadin Casino for concerts TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! Last seen in our area when they played at the Sault Ste. Marie Kewadin in January, this will be Scarkazm's first concert weekend in St. Ignace since last summer, so if you've missed the Peril side project there in recent months, why not come out this weekend for their hard hitting live attack? No word on possible St. Patrick's Day frills (casino/gambling deals excepted), but the band isn't hyping the holiday up in their own advertising. As usual for Scarkazm's Kewadin gigs, expect 9:00 PM start times, no cover charges, and 21+ age limits. Visit the official Facebook event pages linked here & here for more details, and here's Scarkazm live!

Heading back to Sault Ontario, local funk/hard rock quartet The Elements have a busy weekend ahead, with two very different concert scheduled at two different downtown venues! First, fans can see Rob, Jesse, James, and Jonas at LopLops Lounge TOMORROW NIGHT when they provide support for newer alt-indie rock quartet Man Feelings, in that band's LopLops debut. Interesting to see The Elements supporting a much newer band, but they should set the tone nicely with their established originals & covers, and Man Feelings are a talented group in their own right! After that, The Elements will head to The Rockstar Bar on SATURDAY NIGHT where they will cap off the venue's St. Patrick's Day celebrations with a reprise of their live band karaoke concert format which debuted there in January! Basically, if you want to sing with The Elements, the floor is yours on this night, and they definitely know a wide array of rock tunes for your convenience!

Notably, this Maxx Entertainment-booked event is a special abbreviated concert with a late 12:00 AM start time (technically beginning on St. Patrick's Day proper), due to that night's Six, Two, Oh.-booked stand up comedy event, so there's a wide array of entertainment to have green beer with! The LopLops show is at 10:00 PM on Friday, both events have 19+ age limits and $5 entry fees, but I don't know that the cover would apply at The Rockstar Bar if you just go for the karaoke at midnight. Visit the Facebook event pages linked here & here for more details, and here's The Elements live!

Finally for this weekend's currently known hard rock and punk concert previews, the aforementioned Man Feelings/Elements show isn't all at LopLops Lounge in the coming days, as local Celtic punk quintet Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide will play their annual St. Patrick's Day concert there THIS SATURDAY NIGHT! Long-time fans of The Rising Tide will be very familiar with their St. Patrick-Day concerts, and even short tour runs, but they've tended to play these seasonal dates in Sudbury since 2015. The new Tide lineup should be in fine form with their own Celtic-tinged originals on Saturday, and diehard fans won't want to miss out at LopLops this weekend! Given the band's high profile and the seasonal frills, a special $15 admission fee is in effect, with tickets available at this link, but keep in mind that the show is being treated like it will sell out, so you may not want to gamble on entry at the door. Yes, this is a 19+ event with a 9:00 PM start time.

If you want a concert with a real Irish or Celtic flair this weekend, seeing Dustin and company would definitely fit the bill, and if you know the reputation that their St. Patrick's Day shows have, this will be a can't miss concert! Visit the official Facebook event page for more details, and for a preview, here's The Rising Tide live a few years back!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more news and updates on the site soon! Thanks everyone!
