Tym Morrison & Tarnished's Newest Live-Streamed Concerts!!

In our 62nd straight daily post on the SMS, we're taking a look at some extensive live-streamed concert action from prominent local hard rock acts on both sides of the border, so here's what you should know!

Tym Morrison's lucky 13th live-streamed acoustic concert took place on his YouTube channel on Thursday night! Disregard that his Facebook event page only lists Tuesday nighters, it looks like the Thursday shows were accidentally left out there. The local hard rock musician has another lengthy block of entertaining cover songs to check out here, and this time, the set proper begins about 10 minutes into the 2+ hour video. In performance order, Tym starts by covering Amanda Marshall's "Trust Me (This Is Love)" & The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes", before breaking out his Spanish guitar instrumental. Tym spends the next few minutes dealing with technical difficulties, as his video feed was apparently dropping for him, but honestly, the video didn't really get choppy until later. When the set resumed, he covered Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" and Aerosmith's "Dream On", before pausing briefly again to answer the phone, but he does play a bit of what sounds like "Nothing Else Matters" during the call.

Afterwards, Tym covered Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love", Toto's "Africa", Phil Collins' "Another Day In Paradise", Abba's "The Winner Takes It All", Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill", Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer", The Beatles' "Something", Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man", Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time", Kim Mitchell's "Patio Lanterns", a comedy song named "Make Me A Sandwich", Billy Joel's "She's Always A Woman", A Great Big World's "Say Something", Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are", Styx's "Come Sail Away", Heart's "Alone", The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love", and finally, Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke". In spite of some early stops in the action, this is another fine collection of covers from this talented veteran singer/guitarist, and there's a nice array of familiar songs from this series and some newer selections, so give everything a listen below, and stay tuned for episode #14 on Tuesday!

Finally for today, let's dive into some more live-streamed concert action, courtesy of Sault Michigan hard rock band Tarnished, as members Alex Traynor and Josh Fair were back at it on their Facebook page on Thursday night! Just to get it out of the way now, the audio quality here is slightly cleaner (pops and cracks aside), but it's certainly no louder, so similar intervention will be needed to hear things easily if your device can't handle their setup. If so, I highly recommend maxing out your volume and/or ripping the audio track for Audacity manipulation. Video-wise, it's still squished into a 4:3 aspect ratio too, alas. The live-stream begins with renditions of Neil Young's "Rockin' In The Free World", Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love", and Stone Sour's "Through Glass", before jumping into three original songs, including Alex's solo track "What Everything Is Like (High Life)", the band's own "Shortcut" from their upcoming EP, and the title song of Alex's solo EP, "Crazy World"

Tarnished next play Bob Seger's "Turn The Page" and Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream", but before the next song could take place, a power outage and related internet connection issues struck down the live-stream after 42 minutes. This would normally have given fans most of what was advertised, but Alex and Josh had started playing 2 hour sets as of Tuesday, so the guys made up for the abrupt end by playing an extra hour-long set on Friday! You can watch the second half at this link, and while the video is no longer squished, it's also now letterboxed into a standard definition frame. What changed between the first 10 live-streams and last week? Live-stream #11.5 features covers of The Stone Temple Pilots' "Plush", Poison's "Every Rose Has It's Thorn", Theory of a Deadman's "Rx (Medicate)", Darius Rucker's "Wagon Wheel", Steve Earle's "Copperhead Road", and AC/DC's "Highway To Hell", before Josh leaves to trade his guitar for his acoustic bass.

This time, Alex doesn't play solo in the interim. When Josh returns, they cover Green Day's "Basket Case", Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust", Lou Bega's "Mambo No. 5", Everlast's "What It's Like", another original song from their upcoming EP "Down To The Wire" (possibly named "Don't Drink The Water"), Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Who Will Stop The Rain", Incubus' "Drive", and Alice In Chains' "Man In A Box". The audio quality in Friday's live-stream is even worse for static and noise, but the guys perform well here in spite of that, and it's great to hear four originals!
