News time! I've been looking for some stuff to share and report since last night, and now, I have enough to talk about this fine morning! And we'll start (once again) with brand new Woods of Ypres songs!
That's right, David Gold has uploaded three more brand new songs from their upcoming "Green Album" to YouTube! One is the opening track, "Shards of Love", which is very solid, great doom sound to it! Also uploaded is the 9th song, "Halves and Quarters", a short, but extremely heavy number! And finally is another softer track, "Retrosleep (In The Morning Calm)", which will be 11th on the new album! I'm not divulging too much about the songs, I want you guys to hear them and I wanna save my comprehensive thoughts for my December review! So that leaves a grand total of 11 songs from "Woods IV" unveiled to the public: 10 on David's YouTube channel, and one (the yet-unnamed "Track 17") on Stereo Soul Studios' official website! Click on the above links to check out these songs! I'll show you guys one of them right here, so if you want to give it a listen, here's "Shards of Love"!
In other Woods of Ypres news, they have officially announced (via their Facebook page) that pre-ordered albums will ship in less than two weeks! Great to hear, I can't wait to get my copy! Also, their official MySpace page has gotten a revamp to reflect the band's new album! Looks good to me, though maybe a bit heavy on the use of Papyrus font? I use it on MSN though, so who am I to judge? The new look better reflects Woods' current lineup and the band as it is now, so it succeeds! Check out the new look Woods of Ypres Myspace page right here!
Next up, after a couple days of searching, I have finally located video footage of Monday night's Papa Roach concert at Kewadin Casino! YouTube user barbiegirl8833 uploaded three videos from the show earlier this morning, including clips of the band playing the songs "Getting Away With Murder", "Broken Home", and "Last Resort"! Click the names to watch the footage! Quality's a bit iffy, but they're still good videos, and they get most of the songs too! Check them out (as well as 7 videos from Staind's Kewadin concert earlier this year) at this location! I'll show you guys one of them, here's Papa Roach playing "Getting Away With Murder"! And if I find more video from this show, you'll find it here!
Now here's something from a local band I wasn't expecting: Do you guys remember Sue Inside, the local two-member metal band that most recently played live at the YMCA Battle of the Bands in March? Well, it looks like they're back, but with a different sound. Singer/guitarist Shane Fraser has uploaded 4 videos to YouTube of some acoustic songs, with the intent of releasing an acoustic album featuring these songs! Interesting, to say the least! What I've heard isn't bad, but being the metalhead I am, I do prefer their heavier material! Their main music page on CBC Radio 3 has also been updated, including updated bio information
(they're now listed as being from Oil Springs, Ontario) and new songs (some good ones in there!) It also looks like they've added a third member, bassist Adam Veen!
Some exciting stuff, it sounds like, it's nice to see Sue Inside are still active, cause I don't hear a lot from them! I'll show you guys a video, so here's a clip of a new original from Sue Inside, "Lost Cave of Corpses"!
And finally for today....Kiss. You knew news from them would be back! But this might appeal to those fans that are still without a ticket. SooToday has a pair of tickets ready to be given free to one lucky Kiss fan, and it could be YOU! All you have to do is prove you are Kiss' #1 fan! By "prove it", I mean do whatever it takes to make yourself seem like the biggest Kiss fan around! Send stories, pictures, video, anything to make your case to SooToday at win@sootoday.com! No word on when the winner is announced, but whoever wins can pick up their tickets at The Essar Center on the day of the concert! Get full details on this contest at this location! Remember, e-mail proof that you're Kiss' #1 fan to win@sootoday.com!
That's all I have for this morning, but I should have more very soon! Stay tuned for any news and updates in the Sault-area metal universe that I have! Thanks everyone!
