Sault Michigan hard rockers Nixxon Dixxon have scheduled two more area shows later this month! On August 14th, they will be among the performers at this year's Sugar Island Festival, on 3 Mile Road in Sugar Island! They join fellow locals Free Refill on the lineup, who take the stage themselves on the 15th! FYI, Nixxon Dixxon have played at The Sugar Island Festival before (the proof's in the picture), and there is video online of them playing there too! The next night, they will hit The Malamute Saloon in Kinross for a show at 10:00 PM! Best of luck to Nixxon Dixxon on both shows! And if you miss them then, don't worry, they'll be at Kewadin Casino the very next weekend!
Meanwhile, in Sault Ontario, new hard rock band Quite Frankly have scheduled two more upcoming local concerts! On Saturday (sorry for the short notice), they will be playing at a street party on Doncaster Road (which is a side road off of Korah Road, across from Sussex Street!) Not a lot of details on this show yet, but it is definitely real, bassist Harley Syrette has confirmed it with me. So yeah, if you want some live rock this weekend in Sault Ontario, there's an idea! Then, on August 19th, Quite Frankly will be among the performers at a show featuring local indie bands Caddy Street Avenue and The Outside Lights (featuring Lorax bassist Nathan Bouliane) at The Speakeasy at Algoma University! The band sent out e-mails announcing this show, but I don't have much else about it. Both shows are in the concert listings, but I'll keep tabs on any updates!
Now onto some assorted news, and coincidentally, I've got one more item on Quite Frankly! They have added a keyboardist to their lineup! He is Vince LaTassa, and he is guitarist Frank LaTassa's brother. Hopefully this addition will be a benefit for the band and us fans! Get more details on Quite Frankly by visiting their official Facebook group!
Sault Ontario natives Lion Ride will be bringing their punk/metal sounds to Burlington for a show on September 16th at The Red Rooster! They will be playing with Ohio punk band The Luxury Pushers and Kitchener rock n' roll band The Saigon Hookers, who are both also on the lineup with Lion Ride for their show the day before in London! Here's hoping these shows are awesome, the Burlington show is now in the Out of Town Concert Listings, and remember to check out Lion Ride this year at the final Hempfest!
And finally, two small news items to share with you guys:
- Anyone been wondering where Sense of Truth have been lately? Well, as it turns out, they're in the studio doing some recording! Not sure whether this is an EP or something else, but Kev and Curtis from the band confirmed this on their official Facebook group! Also, plans are in the works for new t-shirts and a new official website! Stay tuned for updates on anything Sense of Truth related here, on their Facebook group, and on their MySpace page!
- If you missed Bad Side's radio interview with KLT: The Rock Station on Sunday night, never fear! The interview in it's entirety has been posted online, and you can download it to listen for yourself at this location! It was a good interview, with some great songs from the band too, so why not check it out? Remember to go see Bad Side at Kewadin Casino on September 4th and 5th!
