The last concert weekend of the fall months is upon us, so let's dive into this latest slate of hard rock concert previews in the twin Saults, and none of these (so far?) are on short notice! Due to the amount of shows this weekend, I'll hold our previews of Half Past's Saturday nighter for our next post hitting the site tomorrow. Here's what you should know to lead off!
We'll start in Michigan for two notable touring band's returns, and we'll work our way north by starting at The Northern Pines Lounge at the St. Ignace Kewadin Casino, where Manistique hard rock duo Fyrbird will play their last local (re: within an hour's drive of the Soo) concerts of 2024 TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! Last seen in our coverage range in early October at the same venue, hopefully this weekend's shows prove to be a strong double whammy of hard hitting covers from Jamie and Rikk, as Yooper fans have come to expect across the peninsula! While tomorrow & Saturday's Thanksgiving weekend shows are Fyrbird's last in our radius for the year, they will be rocking Gould City and Newberry next month if you're a little further west. Tomorrow and Saturday's Thanksgiving weekend shows have 21+ age limits, 9:00 PM start times, and no cover charge. Visit the above links for more details, and here's Fyrbird live!
Next up, Traverse City classic metal trio Scarkazm will return to The Rapids Lounge at the Sault Ste. Marie Kewadin Casino branch TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! While not newly promoted on social media, these shows are definitely on for this weekend, and may be their final Soo dates of 2024. I say "may" because Kewadin's entertainment page contradicts Scarkazm as to where they're playing on December 13th-14th, with the casino crediting those shows as being at the Soo branch, whereas Scarkazm have said those will be in St. Ignace right along. Sault Ontario classic rock veterans Touch Of Class are advertised by the casino and on their Facebook page as being at The Northern Pines Lounge on that weekend, so given that Scarkazm contradict Kewadin and Touch of Class' advertising, it seems likely that they either erred in their promotion or the two bands switched lounges next month.
As such, I'm now listing those shows as being moved to The Rapids Lounge as well. I'll let you know if I was wrong though! In any event, Adam, Dave, and Jeff will be rocking the Soo Kewadin this weekend with hard rocking covers tomorrow and Saturday at 9:00 PM with 21+ age limits and no cover. See above for more on Scarkazm's upcoming shows in Sault Ste. Marie, and for a preview, here they are live this year!
Now let's head north to Sault Ontario, starting with local southern hard rock trio Bone Yard 225's return to The Esquire Club for concerts TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! The only dates on the fall calendar for Bone Yard at this west end staple, these shows (their first since Toystock) will see Greg, Alex, and Warren fill in for Mid Life Crysis, who dropped out of this weekend's bookings there for unannounced reasons (here is the proof as to the original scheduling this weekend). Hopefully all is well in Mid Life Crysis' camp, and that your local 225 have a strong weekend of classic and southern rock favourites (and maybe a few originals) at The Esquire Club to send out November with! Both tomorrow's and Saturday's concerts have 9:30 PM start times, 19+ age limits, and no announced cover charges. See the above links for more details, and here's Bone Yard 225 live!
Finally for this preview post, here's a show featuring Bone Yard's former rhythm section, as local classic/hard rock covet quartet Double Down will rock The Water Tower Pub for one night only THIS SATURDAY NIGHT! Last seen at Jay's Piston Broke Pub two weeks ago, this will be Double Down's first show at the central nightclub in a little over a month, and it should prove to be a fun way for the Syrettes, Brad, and Ric to end their fall slate with before we enter December! I have not heard who is playing at The Water Tower Pub tomorrow, as part of the venue's rotation of different nightly acts. Double Down take the stage on Saturday at 8:00 PM with no announced cover charge and a 19+ age limit. If you can't make it, the guys will be at The Esquire Club next week, but don't miss out on Double Down's Water Tower Pub show on Saturday for all of the action! See above for more details, and here they are live!
