I know this is a day late, but better late than never! This weekend, there are SIX metal concerts, all in Sault Michigan, so let's end February with a bang! Here are your local concert previews for this weekend!!
First off, we'll head over to The Rapids Lounge at Kewadin Casino, where
Michigan metal band Peril will make their return to Sault Michigan tonight and tomorrow! Check out the poster to the right, nice South Park versions of the band! Both of these shows will start at 9:00 PM, and you can always check out some of Peril's original songs on their official MySpace page! They're a great band, so definitely check them out!
Next up, we point the spotlight at The Satisfied Frog, where locals Nixxon Dixxon will rock the house down! Both shows will take place at 10:00 PM, and hopefully they'll put on some great shows! I don't have a video to show you guys, but check out their cover songs on their MySpace page, they have some really great songs, so give them a look!
Finally, we will head to The Bird, where tonight and tomorrow night, Pickford Michigan's own Absolute will return to rock Sault Michigan! Much like the Nixxon Dixxon shows, Absolute will be playing both shows at 10:00, so there's a tough choice already for what show you guys might wanna see! Now of course, you can check out a selection of their great cover songs on their official MySpace page, but if you want a real preview of their live concerts, check out this video of Absolute performing their original "Native Tongue"!
Native Tongue - ABSOLUTE
That's all for today, your next local concert will be on Thursday, when Skid Row and Firehouse hit Kewadin Casino! That should be a HUGE show, so keep an eye out for any news on this show! Keep it metal!

Out Of Town Bands Looking For Shows!!
First off, I apologize for being so absent from here the last few days! I've been in Detroit visiting family and doing all that stuff, and I haven't had a terribly large amount of time to post anything here! Plus, news was kinda slow this week...but that changes now, I got some stuff to share! (And just for your reference, I'm back in the Soo tomorrow night!)
I just fucking knew that if I put the effort into it, The Sault Metal Scene's Myspace page could have some positive outcomes, and so far, it has! I say that because no less than THREE out of town bands have been in contact with me for help getting a booking in Sault Ontario this year!
Now, I already mentioned Winnipeg-based metal band Xplicit, but I've contacted them with some info for some venues, in case they can get something going here for a show now planned for May! Absolutely nothing is confirmed, but they said they'll keep in contact with me if they make any progress! As well, I've recieved e-mails from two more metal bands looking to come here and melt off our faces! One is Mudlark, a grindcore band from East Vancouver, BC, and the other is We, The Undersigned, a hardcore band from Fredericton, New Brunswick! Both are very talented bands, check out their pages for some original songs! They would both love to play here, so, just like for Xplicit, I gave them lots of information, and hopefully all goes well!
And of course, if you are a promoter or can help get show bookings, why not send Xplicit, Mudlark, or We, The Undersigned a message through their pages that I linked above! The more shows, the better, so why not help the cause? Also, Mudlark bassist Dave asked if I knew of any good grind/punk bands to have on their show up here if it takes place! If you're in a band and would wanna support Mudlark on a Sault show, send them a message through Myspace! And a big thanks to all the bands for asking me for help to get some booked shows up here!
And finally, an 8th band has been added to the Battle of the Bands at The Grand on March 20th! They are called "Retrofit Kettles", but I have no word on a genre. Any help from anyone? That's all for today, I'll have more tomorrow, including local concert previews for this weekend! Thanks everyone!

New Local Band Links, And More!
So how's everyone doing today? Hopefully well, I assume? Today, I have a bunch of random updates to share, beginning with two newly found local bands to add to the Local Metal Band Links!
Now, I will say this much right now: These two bands aren't new. I likely never added them to any SMS listings because there was no direct indication that they were from the Sault area. But, I should thank the second of these two bands for adding me on The Sault Metal Scene's Myspace page, as now I can give them their proper credit! My apologies for not adding them earlier!
So, these two bands are PYSS and Bill Satchels, and both are quite unique! Both feature Liam White as a member, though Bill Satchels seems to be the more active of the two. Both bands really have a techno/insudtrial/black metal kind of sound to them, at least from what I got out of them. Both bands have some very interesting originals on their Myspace pages! (Click the above links.) Check them out, they're good, and definitely different from other bands you've heard around here! Then again, you'd expect that when you list your genres as "Acousmatic, Tape Music, Drum & Bass, and Folk Rock"!
Next up, an update on Sault Michigan's own Integrated System of Machines! Now, as you know, they're in Milwaukee tomorrow night supporting fucking Soilwork and Darkane on this stop of their North American tour! But, they've scheduled two more shows out on the road for later in the year! Both will take place in Peshawbestown, Michigan, at The Leelenau Sands Casino! The first show will take place there on April 4th at 9:00 PM at The Elements Lounge , while the second will be on May 2nd at 8:00 PM in The Grand Showroom! Best of luck to I.S.O.M. on both of these shows! Remember to check the Out of Town Concert Listings for even more shows by local talent on the road this year!
Now, just anything else that I should mention, nothing is too shockingly huge, so here's a quick rundown of some news and notes:

- If you went to see Upheaval of an Exorcist or Jager this weekend, feel free to share how the shows were with a blog comment, on Facebook, or e-mail me at robfigures@hotmail.com!
- Minor correction on a band from March 20th's Battle of the Bands: The band I said were called "Dead Warriors" are actually called "Undead Warriors". Sorry about that! I still don't know a definite genre though.
- The Breaking The Fourth Wall/DeadWalk concert on March 21st appears to have a new band listed, or at least, I think so. They're called "Mmk", but I've never heard of them if they're a real band.

Local Concert Previews and the Battle of the Bands Lineup Announcement!!!
My god, a post without a new concert to announce? Yeah, the streak ends tonight. But, I do have a bunch of updates, so here we go!
The chosen bands for the YMCA's Battle of the Bands on March 20th have been announced! And yes, there will be metal! Now, as I mentioned yesterday, Dirty Virgin are confirmed for the Battle. But, that's not all! Also confirmed are local metallers Sue Inside, and Operation: Killdozer, the new project featuring former Time of Ruin frontman Jason Bourcier! Aside from these bands, there's also four other announced groups. We have local indie band The Outside Lights, as well as three bands that I've never heard of. They are Waterslide, Dead Warriors (That's a promising name!), and Glass Statues.
If you guys know anything about these bands, let me know at robfigures@hotmail.com! That makes seven competing bands, but the original plans for the Battle said eight. I dunno if they'll add a band or not, but for now, we have a full lineup! And just in case you forgot, this Battle of the Bands will be preceded by the original rock opera "Nothing To Do In Sault Ste. Marie"! The Battle itself starts at 7:35, followed by the awards at 10:15 PM! Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going towards YMCA Strong Kids!
Ok, now we will get to this weekend's local concert previews! There are three local metal shows this weekend, so let's start with the biggest one of all! Tomorrow night, at The Oddfellows Hall, death metal bands will rock the Sault! Your headliners are Sudbury-based death metal combo Upheaval of an Exorcist, in one of their many concerts in the Sault this spring! Support will come from Toronto death metal band Machine of Macabre, Newmarket based prog/death metal band The Memphis West (FYI, they're replacing Guttershark), and local punk bands Talk Shit, The Fury, and Good Morning Gorillas!
If you wanna check out an original song by Upheaval of an Exorcist, here's a video featuring their song "Quietus"!
This concert will take place tomorrow night at The Oddfellows Hall, with the doors opening at 6:00 PM! Tickets are NOT being sold anymore, they had said tickets wouldn't be sold the week of the concert. So, hopefully you have your tickets already in hand! It is being held in honor of the 19th birthday of Big Voiced Records' head Jeremy Hannah! And of course, for even more info on this show, head on over to the Facebook event page, or the write-up on SooToday!
As for the remaining two shows this weekend, we will now make the voyage to Sault Michigan, where Jager will rock The Sportsman's Lounge at Dondee Lanes tomorrow night and Saturday night! Both shows will feature support from The Mama's Boys, and both shows will start at 8:00 PM! Knowing Jager's songs and videos that I've seen online, they should put on some great performances this weekend! But don't take my word for it, check out this live video of them performing the Nickelback song "Figured You Out"!
Nickleback
I have more in the pipeline, including a couple possible new bands to add to the Local Metal Band Links, but I'll leave that for tomorrow! Have a good one, guys!

LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (AGAIN!!!), and more!
Well everyone, the LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS just don't stop coming!!! So, let's get right to it!
On June 12th and 13th, a battle of the bands will be held at The Corner Pub Bar and Grill in Sault Michigan. Now, I don't have huge details on this by any means, but it will feature local and regional talent, celebrity judges, and admission will be free! You must be 21 or accompanied by someone who is 21 though, as it is an American bar. Both nights of the Battle will start at 7:00 PM!
Now, here's why I bring it up: Integrated System of Machines are playing at it! Yes, the local death metal stars will make their return to the local concert scene for the battle! Even without knowing other bands scheduled to compete, I can safely say that I.S.O.M. are more than capable of winning, so best of luck to them! If you wanna check out some of their original tracks, head on over to their official Myspace page!
....oh that's right, I have something else to mention about I.S.O.M.! On Sunday night, they will roll into Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they will be backing up....SOILWORK, Darkane, and Warbringer at their show at The Rave! Speaking as a huge Soilwork fan, I gotta say, that's fucking cool! Best of luck to I.S.O.M. at this show!
And finally, to close up tonight's post, we may have our first confirmed band for the March 20th YMCA Battle of the Bands at The Lock City Grand Theater! Now, if you're a member of the Facebook group for local punk/glam metal band Dirty Virgin, you may have recieved an e-mail from bassist Lionel Quinton! In it, he plugs the Battle of the Bands, and ends with "Just letting everyone know, Dirty Virgin will be playing".
Now, if this is true and confirmed, than I smell some good things for this battle! Hopefully we get lots of metal on this one, cause as you should know, the more metal, the better! As I hear more about the rest of the lineup, you'll see it here, and before that, on Facebook!
That's all for tonight, the next post (barring something incredibly shocking or huge) will feature this weekend's local concert previews, so keep an eye out! Thanks everyone!

EVEN MORE LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS, and more!!
Bonjour, mes amis! I have some news to get to, but first, LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS!!!
Thanks for Cami Hubbard for the update on these new concerts, all of which involve Sault Michigan's own Nixxon Dixxon! They have scheduled six more concerts at The Satisfied Frog in the next few months! So keep an eye out for Nixxon Dixxon when they play there on March 27-28, April 17-18, and May 15-16! All six shows will start at 10:00! But before these shows can take place, remember that Nixxon Dixxon will be at The Satisfied Frog for two shows next weekend, as well as throughout the year at The Rapids Lounge at Kewadin Casino! And of course, check out some of Nixxon Dixxon's great cover songs at their official MySpace page!
Now, to some more random updates! First off, a big thanks to all the bands and fans of the blog that have became friends of The Sault Metal Scene on MySpace! Among other new friends are Xplicit, a metal band from Winnipeg, who actually sound really good! (Check out some of their originals on their MySpace.) And according to their upcoming concert listings, they have a show pencilled in for Sault Ontario on April 21st!
Now, here's the problem with that: They don't have a venue. It just says "TBA" for a venue, so they are likely looking for a show or a booking. So if anyone is interested in booking Xplicit for an April 21st show in Sault Ste. Marie, send them a message on their Myspace or through their official website! And just to add, for you Canadian Idol fans, you may remember Xplicit frontman Dan LeGrand and guitarist Travis Thompson from auditioning on the show in 2007! Check out their audition video at this link! (They're after the first audition)
And now, some bad news for you hardcore fans...it appears the Callahan/Upheaval of an Exorcist concert scheduled for March 9th has been CANCELLED. I'm not sure why, the Facebook page for the event didn't say why, it was just deleted. It's a shame that is was cancelled, I know a lot of you guys were looking forward to going, but hopefully Callahan will be back sooner or later! And as for Upheaval of an Exorcist, they've still got three shows coming up around here, so you'll get plenty of chances to see them too!
That's all for tonight, expect lots more news this week, including local concert previews for this weekend (featuring Jager, Upheaval of an Exorcist, and more!) and hopefully, an announcement on which bands made the cut for the March 20th YMCA Battle of the Bands! Thanks for the continued support, everyone!

LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS!!!/Other Random Updates
Greetings one and all! I got a handful of updates and news for everyone, so let's get started with some LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS!!!!
Michigan based hard rockers Nudge are returning to Sault Michigan! They have a packed tour schedule this year, but they've fit in four shows at The Satisfied Frog in 2009! So, keep an eye out for Nudge when they return on April 24-25 and June 12-13! Both shows are scheduled to begin at 10:00 PM! For more info and dates for Nudge, head on over to their official Myspace page!
Next, we have an update on an upcoming local concert! Now, I've reported a lot about this Friday's Upheaval of an Exorcist concert for Jeremy Hannah of Big Voiced Records' 19th birthday already, but there's still another lineup change to announce! It appears Sudbury-based hardcore band Guttershark are OFF the show now. But never fear, metal fans, for a replacement was found! Filling in for this show is The Memphis West, a progressive death metal band from Newmarket! The rest of the lineup is intact, and the show will go on! I'll add more and better details closer to Friday!
And now, an update from Sault Ontario hard rockers Stillbroke! Frontman Jesse Frigault sent me an e-mail yesterday with some updates! Apparently, they have signed a record deal, and will apparently be recording a new album and music for some programs and games in the future! If this holds up, it should be damn exciting! Hopefully everything goes well, and we'll see them playing in the Sault again real soon!
Also, I have added a new link to the Other Local Metal Links section! It is the official website for Sault Michigan based music store Grooves Music! Not only do they sell tons of musical instruments, they also hold music lessons taught by members of local bands like Shift, among others! Located at 504 Ashmun Street, you can check out Grooves Music at http://www.groovesmusicinc.com/ or at their official MySpace page!
Speaking of Shift...I forgot to mention that they played a pair of shows out in Christmas Michigan at Foggy's Bar this weekend! Hopefully they went well, my apologies for not mentioning them before now! Also, if anyone went to see Nixxon Dixxon or Bad Side this weekend, feel free to share how the shows were here, on Facebook, or at robfigures@hotmail.com!
That's all for now, I'll have more news tomorrow if I can pry myself away from the Daytona 500! Have a good one guys, hope you all had a good Valentines Day!

LOCAL CONCERT ALERT, Local Concert Previews, and much more!!!
Well, now I will make it up to everyone. This post is LOADED with stuff to talk about, so let's get going!
Let's kick things off with a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT!!! On March 21st, we have a hardcore show in Sault Ontario! It will be headlined by Montreal based Christian hardcore band Breaking The Fourth Wall, marking their return to Sault Ontario! Support will come from fellow Montreal hardcore rockers Deadwalk, Sudbury's own Upheaval of an Exorcist again (It's great that they come here so often, props to UOAE!), and local punk band Good Morning Gorillas! Other opening bands are to be announced!
This concert will be held at The Oddfellows Hall on March 21st at 6:30 PM! Tickets will be $10 at the door! More info will be posted here as it comes in! And if you wanna check it out, head on over to the Facebook event page to see what's up!
Ok, now that we have that out of the way, I got lots more to talk about! So, let's get right to this weekend's local concert previews!!!
Sault Michigan's own Bad Side are back for a pair of weekend shows tomorrow and Saturday at The Rapids Lounge at Kewadin Casino! Both will take place at 9:00 PM, and check out the poster! Very nice! Bad Side are a great band, and there's no doubt in my mind that they'll put on two more great shows this weekend! But don't take my word for it, check out this video for the Bad Side song "You're So Hot"!
And while we're on the subject of weekend concerts at Kewadin Casino, there's one more! On 8:00 Saturday night, fellow locals Nixxon Dixxon (seen here with Bret Michaels) will be playing a show at the ballroom upstairs at Kewadin, as part of a Valentine's Day dance! Hopefully this goes well, this should be better than some pop/rap music dance any day! Check out some Nixxon Dixxon covers at their official Myspace page!
Now, there's your local concerts for the weekend! After Saturday, the next shows on the horizon will feature Jager at Dondee Lanes and Upheaval of an Exorcist and others at The Lock City Grand Theater! Search the blog for more info on these concerts!
Ok, what next....Oh, that's right, new local band to talk about! Gates of Winter frontman/Woods of Ypres guitarist Lee Maines has started a new solo project! Influenced by bands like Meshuggah and Ihsahn, Lee's working on a 5 song EP featuring his own solo material! Check out the first demo, "Sol" (which sounds damn fucking good), at Lee's official Myspace page! It's also in the Local Metal Band Links section on the right of this page!
FYI, Lee's tried a number of other side projects in the past, if you wanna check out some of them, here's the links for Septicon, Ex-Oblivion, and Wrathborne!
Next up, a minor note on a change in the Band Links section: I've removed the Myspace page for Sault Ontario hardcore band The Onslaught. Their page has been deleted from Myspace, so I conversely deleted it from our listings. So if you noticed they were missing, that's why!
And now, a note on a band from Sault Ontario. Remember when I posted concert updates "with a grain of salt" for Sault Ontario metal band The Issues? Well, they have added new concert dates, but I honestly can't post these from what I've seen. Among the new shows, they've got concerts scheduled for "The Welfare Office", "Cousin Vinnies", and Nunavut, of all places. They just doesn't seem like real "concerts", so to speak.
I might be more out of the loop than I've figured, but either way, I'm not gonna call these as real. Maybe I'm wrong, and if I am, please tell me and I'll post them in the listings! Nothing offensive is meant by not including these shows, I just don't think they're real "concerts". And FYI, The Issues are a pretty good band, check out some of their material at their official Myspace page!
And finally, The Sault Metal Scene is back on Myspace! I'm giving it another shot, I figured if I applied it correctly, I could make it successful. I figure this could be of use to reach out to more local bands, group together all the bands so I can extract news and updates quicker, and overall, just extend the presence of the Sault Metal Scene beyond here and Facebook. But keep in mind, THIS AND FACEBOOK ARE STILL THE MAIN SAULT METAL SCENE PAGES! ALL NEWS AND UPDATES WILL GO HERE AND TO FACEBOOK FIRST!
So check it out, add us as a friend, spread the word, all that fun stuff, at http://www.myspace.com/saultmetalscene! And if you came here from the Myspace links, thanks for checking us out! It's much appreciated! That's all for now, keep it metal, everyone!

LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS!! (Absolute)
Sorry for the lack of posting lately, I've hit a dry spell for news, and once again, college hit me with homework and various other shit. But, I have a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT to share, so I figure I'll post that while I'm thinking about it!!!
Remember Absolute? The Pickford, Michigan based hard rockers who played at The Bird in Sault Michigan this past weekend? Well, they're coming back, and sooner than you think! Absolute are returning to The Bird at the end of the month for a pair of weekend dates on February 27th and 28th! Just like the last two shows, both will start at 10:00 PM as well! Remember, if you wanna check out some of Absolute's songs, head on over to their official Myspace page!
That's all I have for today, I hope to have WAY more than this in the coming days...and if nothing else, there will be a local concert preview for this weekend, to profile upcoming shows featuring Bad Side and Nixxon Dixxon! So keep on the lookout, alright guys?

This Year's Grammy Winners!!!
Well, I don't have anything major for local metal news tonight, but I can tell y'all which metal bands took home awards at tonight's 51st Grammy Awards ceremony!
Metallica were the big metal winners, taking home the Best Metal Performance for "My Apocalypse" (beating Dragonforce, Judas Priest, Ministry, and Slipknot)! As well, they also won Best Recording Package for "Death Magnetic"! Just to add, Metallica producer Rick Rubin took home the award for Producer of the Year, Non Classical, beating (among others), Staind/Black Tide producer Johnny K! Congratulations to the winners!
Other than that, it was all losses for metal bands. In the Best Hard Rock Performance category, Disturbed, Judas Priest, Motley Crue, and Rob Zombie all lost to prog rockers The Mars Volta. Meanwhile, in the Best Rock Instrumental category, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and Rush all lost out to Zappa Plays Zappa. As well, both Metallica and Kid Rock lost to Coldplay for the Best Rock Album award. I definitely would have picked other bands for those awards, but meh, what can I do.
And finally, Kid Rock (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance), Eddie Vedder (Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance), AC/DC (Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group), and Nine Inch Nails (Best Boxed/Special Limited Edition Package) all lost in their respective categories too. However, Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant took home five Grammys for his incredibly un-metal collaboration with Alison Krauss!
That's all for tonight, local metal news will emerge once again tomorrow!

YMCA Battle Of The Bands Updates!!!
Bonjour! Hope you guys are having a good weekend so far! I got some updates on an upcoming concert...no, make that a LOT of updates!
Remember on January 28th when I mentioned that the YMCA was putting on a rock opera/battle of the bands on March 20th? Well, they've updated a lot of the details for it, finally!
There was lots of demand from interested bands, so luckily, the biggest update of all is now, there will be...EIGHT slots for bands to play! Each band will play for 20 minutes, with the first band playing at 7:35-ish, the last band playing around 10:35, followed by awards for Best Originals, Best Stage Presence, and Best Overall Band!
As well, they are preferring original songs, which leads me to believe that the more originals a band has, the better chance they'll have of winning. Also, a drum kit will be provided to speed up set-up time, which is a nice idea! Keep in mind that this will be preceded by the rock opera "Nothing To Do In Sault Ste. Marie", and it will all take place on March 20th at The Lock City Grand Theater! Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to YMCA Strong Kids! And yes, it is ALL AGES!
Now, since this show was posted on Facebook, there's been some huge demand from local bands, including a bunch of local metal groups! That being said, Bradley Griffith (who is putting on this rock opera/battle) is requesting that if you are interested in being in the Battle of the Bands, you must:
Send an e-mail to bradleygriffith@hotmail.com with GRAND BOTB in the subject heading, and specify your band name, members' names, genre, microphone requirements, and general contact info! There are only 8 spots available, so the YMCA Rocks Committee will pick the 8 bands from all interested parties. The deadline to submit your entry is...FRIDAY, so if you want in, e-mail Bradley A.S.A.P.!
And for all the info you need on this show, head over to the Facebook event page! Thanks guys, I'll check back here tomorrow! And if you went to see Absolute, Jager, or Shift this weekend, feel free to let me know!

Six Local Concert Previews, and a Woods of Ypres update!
As I promised, I have returned with more stuff to talk about! And we'll kick off this post with your local concert previews for this weekend!
There are SIX shows taking place in the area on Friday and Saturday, all double weekend dates at venues in Sault Michigan! We'll go in alphabetical order this time, starting with Pickford Michigan's own Absolute! They will mark their return to the Sault area tomorrow night at 10:00 PM at The Bird! It's nice to see Absolute back around these parts, and The Bird hosting a good metal show again! Now, if you want a taste of the Absolute live show, check out this live video of them performing the Rage Against The Machine classic "Killing In The Name"!
Absolute (live at the Satisfied Frog)
Ok, let's keep the alphabetical order going, with a band known as Jager! Yes, these Sault Michigan locals are back for a pair of weekend dates tomorrow and Saturday as well! But unlike Absolute, they will be playing at The Rapids Lounge at Kewadin Casino, and at 9:00 PM! These guys have a pretty good reputation across the river, and it's no wonder from the great songs they have on their Myspace! But don't take my word for it, check out this live video of Jager performing the Nazareth classic "Hair of the Dog" from a show in St. Ignace!
Hair of the dog
And finally, we come to The Satisfied Frog, where fellow local metal band Shift take the stage for a pair of shows on Friday and Saturday night at 10:00 PM! Now, I still don't have any audio or video to share with you guys, but by all accounts I've heard, Shift are a great hard rock band in their own right! Now, if you wanna check out the band in general, head on over to their official Myspace page!
So, that's it for local concert previews for this weekend! If you're gonna be in Sault Michigan tomorrow night or Saturday, you got your pick of the litter for some hard rocking shows! Now, other news I've came across!
If you've recieved an e-mail from Woods of Ypres frontman/Gates of Winter drummer David Gold through Facebook recently, you'll already be aware of what I'm about to talk about! If not, well get yourselves ready for some news from the Woods of Ypres side of things, and guess what? THEY NEED OUR HELP!
In an effort to raise funds for their upcoming CD, Woods of Ypres are now selling official "Woods IV: The Green Album" buttons! Each one is 1 x 2'', four sided and green (as in their album title), and comes with more information about the album! And, this is available to you for the low low price of $5.00, including shipping! There is a limit of just 100 buttons, so get yours while they're still there! If you wanna get a "Woods IV" button, send $5 dollars to:

Random Updates for February 5th!
Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posting the last couple days, the college homework crunch got me again. But I got some updates to share with y'all, so here's some news!
First off, SooToday have posted an event page for the February 20th Upheaval of an Exorcist show on their Entertainment section! Hopefully this show goes well, as it is in honor of Big Voiced Records' own Jeremy Hannah's 19th birthday! Just as a reminder, this show will also feature Toronto death metal band Machine of Macabre, Sudbury hardcore band Guttershark, and local punk bands Talk Shit, The Fury, and Good Morning Gorillas! Tickets are still $8 in advance, $10 at the door!
Speaking of Big Voiced Records, here's an update on the Callahan/Upheaval of an Exorcist show they're holding on March 9! Local punk band The Fury will now be playing at this event! Now, the poster lists Rowdy In Bed still, but the Facebook event page doesn't, so I have no idea. I'll assume Guttershark are off the show now too, as the poster doesn't mention them either. Either way, tickets are the same price as the February 20th show! Check out the poster on your left, and the official Facebook event page at this link!
Now I'll leave it that for now, I do plan on much more tonight, including the Local Concert Previews for this weekend! And just as a random personal side note, I have made myself an official Sault Metal Scene t-shirt! It has the official logo on the front and a tiny "Rob Figures: Admin" wordmark in the corner, and a "saultmetalscene.blogspot.com" plug on the back! I'll save it for the next local show I attend, so keep an eye out! See you guys later!

Northern Rocks Magazine Update!
Hello all! It's February 1st, and you know what that means! ...no, not just The Super Bowl! The new issue of Northern Rocks Magazine is out, so here's all that's local and metal in this month's issue!
A review of the Blessed By A Broken Heart show by Northern Rocks mastermind Chris Rancourt is included in this issue! If you all remember correctly, people from the magazine came to the show to promote the magazine and check out the hardcore music action, so it's nice to see a review of the show! Other than that, there's nothing really "locally metal" focused this month, but there is an article on Sudbury-based death metal band Upheaval of an Exorcist, who are playing three times in the Sault through March!
Remember, Northern Rocks Magazine is a FREE internet magazine dedicated to bands and concerts in all of Northern Ontario! It features profiles, reviews, and stories for bands, promoters, and anything else music-based from Thunder Bay to North Bay, and everywhere in between! If you're interested in subscribing, head on over to http://www.northernrocksmagazine.com/subscribe.html and join the mailing list!
If I find anything else to report on tonight, you'll hear it here! So long for now!
