Today's news post is 100% devoted to LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS at two different local nightclubs from this month through to the early summer, so here's what you should know on these newly confirmed events!
The Esquire Club has announced their band schedule for most of the first half of 2024, as per
their Facebook page yesterday! We had already listed a handful of the hard rock-leaning dates at the Second Line West nightclub via the band in question announcing them, but there are new gigs to list from three heavier cover bands today (maybe four, pending who mystery band The B are). Chronologically, we'll start with local classic/hard rock cover quartet
Soundcheck, who will return there on Friday, February 16th (no word on why they're not playing on Saturday the 17th), followed by full weekends on March 29th-30th, May 17th-18th, and June 21st-22nd! Yes, I know that they're playing there
this Friday & Saturday too, but I'll address them in a few days during our next weekend concert preview cycle. Soundcheck (no space) are fresh off of their 2024 debut (not counting jam nights) at Reggie's this past Friday.
In case you're keeping track of holiday weekends, Soundcheck are booked at The Esquire Club over the Family Day, Easter,
and Victoria Day long weekends. No idea if that was intentional or not, but their classic and hard rock cover slate will be primed to rock the west end at all of these upcoming dates! In in one more new confirmation, Soundcheck will also be returning to
The Water Tower Pub for one night only on Friday, January 19th, as per the venue's Facebook page's concert calendar for this month! Of course, the Great Northern Road nightclub books separate acts nightly, with a joint set by Generations singer Valerie Powley and Shirley Kominos being booked there on Saturday the 20th. Sounds like a busy start to the year for Soundcheck, so don't bypass next Friday's show either! These are 19+ events with no cover charge, with the Water Tower Pub show beginning at 8:00 PM and the rest beginning at 9:00 PM. See above for more details!
Next up, local southern hard rock trio
Bone Yard are booked at The Esquire Club for just one weekend in the first half of 2024, as they will head to this popular nightclub on Friday, March 1st & Saturday, March 2nd! Unless Bone Yard (with a space) get booked there on an open day or as a replacement band, these will be their first Esquire Club dates since last month. Hopefully these shows go well for Greg, Alex, and Warren as we inch into the spring season, and that Bone Yard turn up there again when the time is right! Like with Soundcheck's upcoming dates at The Esquire Club, expect no cover, a 9:00 PM start time, and a 19+ age limit in two months' time. Visit the above links for more details, and look for Bone Yard elsewhere this weekend when they rock Reggie's, previews forthcoming!
The other new dates to our listings are actually ones that the band in question (newer local classic/hard rock cover quartet
Silent 9) announced on their own last fall, but as they were so distant at the time without other bands plugging shows that far ahead, I waited to mention them until now. The new-to-the-SMS dates will see Silent 9 return to The Esquire Club on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th, and in their furthest new dates announced in this Facebook concert calendar post, they'll also be playing at
The Water Tower Pub for one night only on Friday, May 24th! That's as far as their websites calendar currently goes before an apparent summer break (as far as we know) before resuming public gigs in the fall, and again, I'll wait until at least one other band announces shows that far ahead before listing them here. If you're up for seeing Jess, Ryan, Paul, and Steve's fan friendly covers in the spring, keep these in mind!
Like with Soundcheck above, the Esquire Club dates are at 9:00 PM, the Water Tower Pub show begins at 8:00 PM, and these are 19+ affairs with no cover across the board. Visit the above links for much more on the upcoming band slates at both venues, especially regarding heavier-leaning bands, don't miss Silent 9 at The Water Tower Pub
this Friday, and stay tuned for this month's Defunct Local Band Profile next! Thanks everyone!
