Tarnished's Three New Live-Streamed Concerts & A New Cover Video!!

New video content from local musicians keeps tricking in, and I am very grateful for the content to write about, so hopefully this continues while the pandemic drags on! Today's post is mostly devoted to a local band's extensive round of live-streams from the last three evenings, and we also have a one-off cover to round things out with. Here's what you should know!

Sault Michigan hard rock band Tarnished (minus Nathan) held three more hour-long live-streamed concerts on their Facebook page in three consecutive days late last week, so we have the full rundown on the site once again! I would love to tell you that the audio issues on Tarnished's recording setup are fixed here, but alas, similar deficiencies abound here for quiet audio and pops & cracks, and the guys are aware of the continuing problems. Your mileage may vary, but if you are in a similar boat, I recommend turning the volume up to the absolute maximum and/or ripping the audio tracks for manipulation in Audacity. We'll start today with Thursday's live-streamed set, where Alex Traynor and Josh Fair covered Three Doors Down's "Kryptonite", Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World", Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell", Bob Seger's "Turn The Page", Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising", Oasis' "Wonderwall", Nickelback's "Rockstar"...

...Anthrax's "Madhouse", Poison's "Talk Dirty To Me", Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'", Alice In Chains' "Rooster", and Green Day's "Basket Case". Solid set (if you can hear it), and the guys are clearly having fun with this request-heavy set, though if you're looking for originals of theirs/Alex's, you'll want to tune in to Saturday's live-stream. Give it a watch above though! Friday's live-stream has louder audio than Thursday's had, which sounds good in theory, but the loud static is especially bad on more energetic songs, so tread with caution. Maybe Alex's guitar is too close to the microphone? In order, Alex and Josh cover The Stone Temple Pilots' "Plush", REO Speedwagon's "Ride The Storm Out", Loverboy's "Turn Me Loose", Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues", Neil Young's "Heart of Gold", The Animals' "House Of The Rising Sun", Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69", Billy Idol's "White Wedding", Alice In Chains' "Man In The Box", ...

...Lou Bega's "Mambo No. 5", Metallica's "Fade To Black", and Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream". Despite the louder volume, the staticy guitar is a huge detriment to the audio quality here, but if you can get past that, the guys tackle some fun covers, new and old alike, so give it a watch at the above links! Yesterday's final live-stream is embedded below, and the audio quality is about on par with Friday's, so be prepared for static. The set begins with Alex doing a solo cover of Matchbox Twenty's "Push", but Josh returns for the rest of the set, including covers of Warrant's "Uncle Tom's Cabin", Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock & Roll", Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary", The Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane", Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive", Theory of a Deadman's "Rx (Medicate)", "Rooster" again, Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love", Ed Sheeran's "Don't", Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love", Alex's own solo song "Crazy World", and The Romantics' "What I Like About You".

The reprise of "Rooster" aside, there's a nice variety of unique tunes across these three live-streams, though I am surprised that they only played one original song from Alex's debut or Tarnished's upcoming EP. I hope they sort out the audio issues in time for their next live-streams, but it's still fun to hear Alex & Josh in their element! Give all three of last week's sets a watch!

We'll close today in Sault Ontario for a new Facebook video performance by 2/3rds of local party rap/rock band The Apocalypse Afterparty! No sign of Alice due to social distancing, but Paul and Amanda (complete with Barrel mask from The Nightmare Before Christmas) are married and live together, so they can rock out as normal, at least. Shared from Paul's personal Facebook page, the video sees the Stanghettas covering Say Anything's "Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too", and Paul's on bass here, so if you have flashbacks to The Fury, I don't blame you in the slightest. The cover proper is energetic and fits in the mold of post-unmasking A.A. live sets, so fans should get a kick out of it! This is The Apocalypse Afterparty's first public update since quietly dropping out of SMAC-19, so this may be a window into what we missed out on there too.

Note that "Couchella" is written on a blackboard in the background, implying that Paul & Amanda were planning to submit this to SooToday for their new at-home music performance series, but the description implies they opted against it due to the adult lyrical content (keep that in mind before watching), but we'll keep you posted if any hard rock/punk performances arrive in that series. For now, give The A.A.'s cover a watch below!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more news on the site tomorrow! Thanks everyone!
