The Fist Magnet/Spigots Reunion Concert Video Showcase!!

In today's post, let's look at videos from the well received 1990s punk reunion concert at Soo Blaster on December 27th! These videos all come from former AlgomA guitarist Kevin Campbell's YouTube channel, which hosts various vintage punk videos and albums, not always locally tied (the channel is now known as Canadian Punker, but operated under a different name for years). This show (held in the memory of late Fist Magnet guitarist Chuck Ayotte) raised $5,360 for the Algoma Regional Community Hospice, as verified in this post from ARCH's Facebook page, so kudos all around to everyone who supported the cause! Kevin filmed all bands on this night except late openers The Sault Side Squad (now renamed With Gunfire, more on them in an upcoming post), but he got fourteen videos from the night's other four groups, so in performance order, who else took the stage?

Second up on the 27th was debuting local punk quartet P.R.O.D., featuring former Destroilet bandmates Christian Foisy & John Conway alongside Fist Magnet bassist Andrew Marson and Gambit drummer Clint Wilson. While their Soundcloud (and so far, only online) page has original demos, Kevin filmed them covering NOFX's "Bottles To The Ground", and as embedded below, The Crucifucks' "Hinkley Had A Vision". Christian takes on lead vocals here, and while his singing is somewhat buried in the mix, they have a solid enough 1990s punk spirit on these covers, and I'm game to hear more from them! Check this out below, and watch for ex-Destroilet drummer Matt Waples!

The two one-off 1990s punk reunions came next, starting The Spigots (or, as the screen says, "Some Spigots"). Here, singer Trevor Harding & bassist Frank Guidocco were joined by half of The Inner City Surfers (Mikey Hawdon and Dave Bahun), and Kevin filmed them covering Gordon Lightfoot's "Ed's Boat" and playing their originals "Beer Goggles", "You're So Rad", and as embedded below, "Nothing You Do". Interestingly, all four of Kevin's videos have Mikey on guitar and Dave on drums, a flip of what they usually play, but I don't know if this is how the whole set went or not. Fun throwback sound with Trevor displaying a lot of energy, and the increased crowd on the floor is encouraging, so check these out above & below!

Though not last on the 27th, the long awaited Fist Magnet reunion was the top advertised band, and if you liked P.R.O.D., you'll like that all but Clint took part here! Frontman Garry Ingram (ex-Gatgas) and drummer Dave Stokes joined their old bandmate Andrew plus guests Christian and John for a well received return set, with Kevin filming them covering Death Sentence's "Live To Die", The Lewd's "Suburban Prodigy", and playing their own "Evil God Hater", "Big Fuckin' Joints", and as embedded below, "Fat Lip". It's great to see Fist Magnet back (if only Chuck could be here for it!), and they delivered well on their original heyday's promise and attitude, so check these videos out as well, and hopefully they and The Spigots return again!

Curiously, the closing band here was active local crossover thrash band Hails, in what turned out to be their last concert with founding guitarist Mikhal Muto. Kevin filmed their cover of The Almighty Trigger Happy's "Meathook" (as seen on "Punk Canada Vol. 4") and two songs from their self-titled album, namely "The Drifter" and (as embedded below) "Pink Clouds Of Density" Ending things on a faster and heavier note, Ha!ls were on form from their prior 2025 gigs here, and they definitely fit the theme of the night, as frontman Brenton Ellis got his local music start in the 1990s punk scene, so check out their Soo Blaster videos above & below!

The Last Hard Rock/Punk Weekend Concert Previews For 2025!!

I hope everyone had a good and peaceful Christmas, and that Santa Claus brought you some good presents! On this Boxing Day, we have previews of this weekend's relatively quiet but eventful slate of concerts, partially because today is a holiday, so here's what you should know for the weekend! (Updated on Saturday at 10:31 AM)

We'll start with this weekend's main event, and as the holidays often see local homecomings, why not throw it back for a special reunion of 1990s local punk bands TOMORROW at Soo Blaster?! This special concert will be an Algoma Regional Community Hospice fundraiser in honour of late Fist Magnet guitarist Chuck Ayotte (who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2018), and to that end, Fist Magnet will be reuniting for their first show in well over two decades tomorrow night! According to co-promoter Christian Foisy on Messenger last night, singer Garry Ingram, bassist Andrew Marson, and drummer Dave Stokes will be joined by Christian and his former Destroilet bandmate John Conway for this one-off set. Very cool for fans of the 1990s punk scene, and for a mini-Destroilet reunion guesting!

Also playing tomorrow is a reunion of The Spigots, who will be represented by singer Trevor Harding & bassist Frank Guidocco alongside Inner City Surfers bandmates Dave Bahun and Mikey Hawdon as guest guitarist and drummer (this may be why I've seen this band named "Some Spigots" in some postings). Incomplete reunion or not, this will be huge for punk fans of the era! Despite the stature of the reunions, neither is headlining tomorrow's concert, as active crossover thrash quartet Hails will close things at some point from 11:15 PM onward (Fist Magnet are at 10:30 PM, The Spigots at 9:45 PM). Debuting local punk band P.R.O.D. (short for "punk rock overdose") will take the stage at 9:00 PM, and thanks to Christian for confirming that this band will feature him, John, and Andrew from the Fist Magnet reunion alongside Gambit/ex-Northwest drummer Clint Wilson (he did not say who will be on lead vocals). Christian confirmed on the Facebook event page last week that the planned Room 206 reunion has been dropped from this concert due to "unforeseen circumstances", though Dave will still be present tomorrow via playing with "some Spigots". Replacing them are online page-less local metal quintet The Sault Side Squad, who will open the proceedings at 8:00 PM. This licensed and ALL AGES concert goes down tomorrow night at 8:00, and admission is $15 in advance at The Rad Zone, the venue, or via those credited on the event page, or $20 at the door. Next up, Bullet Train/ex-Sense of Truth frontman Cory Murchison will bring his sporadically seen acoustic hard rock show back to the stage TOMORROW NIGHT at The Water Tower Pub when he opens for the latest reunion of local/South Korea jam rock supergroup Odd Man Out! Every so often, fans will be able to see the former Skeyes of Seven vocalist (sometimes billed as "Cory Daniel") playing unplugged shows in town, usually as a support act, with tomorrow's concert being a direct reprise of the time that he opened for O.M.O. at the same venue in July 2018. Always good to see Cory on stage, and hopefully he sets the tone well at The Water Tower Pub tomorrow! Odd Man Out (featuring Cory's old Sense of Truth bandmate Steve Myers) don't play live all that often despite never breaking up, with this being the de facto release party for their new album "Quadranium" from last summer. Not a heavier band, but a very talented one who deliver entertaining and fun live concerts with solid musicianship, so keep their return in mind!

This concert also takes place at 8:00 PM tomorrow, it is presumably a 19+ event, and there is no cover charge. December 27th, 2025 is definitely shaping up to be a big day for local band reunions, but if your tastes lean more to jam rock with a hard rock chaser, head to this central venue for tomorrow's action! Not a bad cover, and likely a good sampler of how he'll sound tomorrow night, so check it out below, and see more from Cory above!

Finally for this weekend's known hard rock concert previews, local acoustic classic/hard rock solo musician Tym Morrison has a busy post-Christmas weekend ahead, as he will be playing a matinee concert at Misty's Fifties TOMORROW before serving as the Sunday matinee performer at Beck's Bar on SUNDAY! With his planned Eagles Club concert on New Year's Eve seemingly cancelled, these will be the former Caveman Morrison frontman's final public concerts of 2025, ending a very busy year as usual for this talented local music veteran. I'm sure he has a lot more bookings lined up for 2026 already, so stay tuned for confirmation of those when dates begin going public! As usual for Tym, tomorrow's show at Misty's is a 4:00 PM matinee, while the Beck's matinee concerts on weekends begin at 3:00 PM, Sunday included. New Live Concert Cover Videos & More Recent News & Notes!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian readers! Before you settle in for turkey and football (assuming you didn't take care of that yesterday), here's an all-Sault Ontario post for the day off, and it's devoted to recent videos and some other updates, so let's get things rolling!

Normally, I would hold this new video of local classic/hard rock cover quartet Double Down for our next preview of one of their shows (their next publically scheduled gig is on November 21st at The Water Tower Pub), but seeing as it has two guest performers, let's show it off on its own! This comes from one of their gigs at Jay's Piston Broke Pub over this long weekend, in which Mid Life Crysis bassist Lori Reinholtz again sat in for Dan Beaupre, but the guys also welcomed Bourbon Blue singer/guitarist Jules Cote to sing lead on a cover of Oasis' "Don't Look Back In Anger"! Filmed from another high stationary vantage point (if not as straight-on as other past Double Down videos shot like this), this is a soundly handled cover that Oasis fans should like! You can tell that Jules isn't used to singing on stage without a guitar in hand, but his voice fits well enough here, if not hitting as high of notes.

It is worth noting that Bourbon Blue have recently added ex-Re:Born frontman Robert Nevitt as their new lead singer, though Jules remains in the pop rock cover band that he co-founded, so we should still see him on lead and backing vocals where needed. Check out the Syrettes, Ric, Jules, and Lori tackling Oasis this weekend below!

Next up, here's a mild surprise, namely a cover of April Wine's "I Like To Rock" by local indie rock band Jupiter Marvelous! While their original music largely doesn't cross our genre radar, their lineup is entirely comprised of alumni of past local hard rock bands, and they do have the occasional hard rock or punk cover in their live sets (remember when they covered Fall Out Boy at Rotaryfest?). This was filmed for veteran local rock guitarist Mike Cliffe's YouTube channel, one of multiple videos of Jupiter Marvelous that Mike has filmed there, and this was from the band's set at Wolf Fest at The Roberta Bondar Pavilion last month. Most of this Canadian hard rock staple was captured here, with new guitarist Spencer Pine taking on lead vocals, which old Electric Church fans will be sure to appreciate! I'd have had the screen behind the band showing something, but Jupiter Marvelous are a talented and very adaptable band, so give this a watch below!

Also today, here's a new video from local southern hard rock trio Bone Yard 225's Facebook page last week, which features drummer Greg Simpson heading to his drumkit at his home studio for what he says is "my favourite time". The implication is that he was working on new Bone Yard material, but nothing was explicitly said there. Regardless, he had his coffee ready! Nice little glimpse at the behind the scenes process, and Facebook was not able to content match the Black Label Society song in the background, so give this video a watch below, and stay tuned for more from your local 225!

Finally for today, here's three assorted shorter news items from the last while, and as usual, these are in alphabetical order by band name:

 

• Sporadically seen local deathcore band Bardo have quietly altered their name to Bardos, as per their Facebook page. A reason for pluralizing the name wasn't announced, but note that their only Facebook posts in the past year have been to plug Heavy North Entertainment concerts put on by frontman Tyler St. Amour. The name change would be a sign that they're still active despite not playing an acknowledged public concert in over a year, so we'll have to see what comes out next from Bardos!
• The Facebook event page's description for the 1990s punk reunion concert at Soo Blaster on December 27th had been updated to note that "some original members" of the three reuniting bands will be playing, hinting that Fist Magnet, Room 206, and/or The Spigots may not be fully/officially reuniting here. A discussion thread there from co-promoter/P.R.O.D. guitarist Christian Foisy did shed some light on that, with ex-Spigots guitarist Jeff Nisbet questioning who would be representing that band. Christian added that singer Trevor Harding & bassist Frank Guidocco would be playing in December, so the "some original members" clarification may reflect The Spigots in particular. It will be a must-attend show regardless!
• I have moved local/Toronto indie/punk quartet Treble Charger back to our inactive band links. They last issued a public update or played live when they opened for Everclear at the annual Western Fair in London in September of last year. I will not be commenting on the allegations from October of last year, which are far outside of what I want to cover on here, and do not directly affect our coverage of local music beyond the band's active status.

LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (Fist Magnet, Tarnished, And Quite Frankly!!)

This Saturday afternoon post is devoted to new LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS, ll with a seasonal and/or charitable flourish, so here's what you should know on both sides of the border!

Reunited local classic/hard rock cover quartet Quite Frankly will play their first public concert in 15 years on Friday, October 24th, but not in Sault Ste. Marie. Rather, they'll be making the hour's drive east to Bruce Mines to play a special Down Syndrome awareness fundraiser concert at Kosmos Pizza there! The restaurant and their Thessalon sister location are both hosting fundraisers that weekend (Thessalon's is the following day), with a goal of raising $5,000 for Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Despite implying that they'd be pulling double duty on the Thessalon branch's Facebook page, Quite Frankly bassist Harley Syrette confirmed with me that they are only playing in Bruce Mines on the 24th, though regardless, Thessalon is outside of our coverage range. Either way, kudos to Haley, Frank, Harley, and Joe for rocking out for a wonderful cause in two weeks, and if you're up for a drive or live east of the Soo, keep these two gigs in mind to show your support!

Kosmos Pizza is located in downtown Bruce Mines right along Highway 17, located in front of The Bavarian Inn and just past the turnoff for Cunningham Street, so it's extremely hard to miss it. The concert on the 24th will begin at 6:00 PM, there are no stated age limits, and while a cover charge isn't advertised, obviously consider donating to the cause and/or buying something to eat/drink while there. Next up, add another Halloween concert onto the schedule, as Sault Michigan classic metal/hard rock quartet Tarnished will return to The Driftwood Sports Bar in St. Ignace for that venue's Halloween party on Friday, October 31st! The fourth time this year that Alex, Josh, Chris, and Ron have played at 590 North State Street, this will be Tarnished's first show of any kind since their trifecta of St. Ignace shows during the Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show last month, with one of those also being at The Driftwood. For the spooky festivities in three weeks, fans can expect a costume contest with a best prize award and hourly prize giveaways, plus "thrilling music, haunted vibes, and dancing till dawn". Maybe you can dance until dawn, but the concert proper is blocked from 9:30 PM-1:00 AM, with a 21+ age limit and no announced cover charge. Tarnished should be in strong rocking form for Halloween night, so see the above links for more details on this concert!

Finally for this all-new concert post, we have a huge show for the holiday season for fans of the 1990s Sault Ontario punk scene, as three big names from that era will reunite on Saturday, December 27th at Soo Blaster! The headliners are a reunion of Fist Magnet, the hardcore punk band featuring future Gatgas frontman Garry Ingram that were a local staple in the early-mid 1990s, as typified by Destroilet's covers of theirs throughout their run. The show will actually be an ARCH Hospice fundraiser in memory of late Fist Magnet guitarist Chuck Ayotte, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2018, and while I'm surprised it's taken this long to do a tribute concert, it will be a blast seeing Fist Magnet back after Christmas! No word on how their lineup will look beyond Garry though. Skate punk quartet Room 206 will return to Soo Blaster for their second gig of 2025 here, after headlining drummer Allan Watson's public stag & doe concert at the same venue in April.

Who would have guessed that Mike, Dave, Brad, and Al would play twice this year after a two decade+ layoff? Given the circumstances, I'll still treat this is as a one-off gig, but it would be neat to see Room 206 do more in 2026! In one more throwback to the Windsor Park era and the Going Underground book, fellow 1990s punk band The Spigots will play their first public concert in decades here, and while media from their heyday is understandably slight (is their cassette online at all?), their song "Beer Goggles" from a compilation CD is on YouTube. No word on how their lineup will look (click here to see some former members), but if you were around in the 1990s at local punk shows, The Spigots' reunion will add to things well! Local openers will include the debuting P.R.O.D. (short for "punk rock overdose"), a new band from former Destroilet guitarist Christian Foisy. Good to see him back out there!

We don't know much on P.R.O.D. yet, and as best as I can tell, their only online presence is via this Soundcloud page, which features three original songs. More punk based than Detroilet but with good attitude and catchy riffs from what I heard, and it'll be interesting to learn more on P.R.O.D. when things go public! Local crossover thrash quartet Hails (whose frontman Brenton Ellis started out in the local scene in the mid-late 1990s) will open the proceedings on December 27th, so don't bypass them either! This licsenced (sic) and all ages concert will have doors opening at 7:00 PM, and admission will be $15 in advance or $20 at the door, so send a message to Christian, his old Destroilet bandmate John Conway, or Room 206 drummer Mikey Hawdon (the credited promoters on the Facebook event page) if you want to send an e-transfer for an advance ticket early.

The high school yearbook-themed poster says that they'll only be on sale at The Rad Zone, contradicting the event page description. If you were at all into the local punk scene in the mid-1990s, this will be a must-attend show on December 27th, and with the holiday season still in effect, when else will you be able to attract so many familiar faces back home to do something like this? I'm about a decade behind the curve for local scene eras, but I know how important these three bands were back then and beyond, so don't miss out on what will be a huge concert at year's end! Local Punk Video Showcase (Part 2)

Like last Wednesday, it's a good time to get our second local punk video showcase post up on the site, as we continue to get up to speed regarding archive punk videos from local bands and concerts! As was the case last week, we're focusing on videos from channels without a 50% majority of local punk videos, in order to save those for our monthly YouTube Channel Profile series. You'll notice a similar trend from last week too via the selected bands, but due to the amount from some bands and channels, spacing them like this will avoid a future glut until some new openings appear.

We'll start this week with local punk/indie rock notables Treble Charger, who as you may know, were inducted into the Independent Music Awards' Hall of Fame during that year's Indies ceremony in Toronto during Canadian Music Week in March 2012. In fact, this was their reunion show, marking the first time Treble Charger had played a public concert in around 8 years, so fans in attendance were in for a treat on that level! Southern Ontario metal band management company Echelons Above Entertainment were in attendance and shot 3 videos from Treble Charger's portion of the event. One is of the actual induction ceremony (and the end of a song) where Greig Nori & Bill Priddle hypothesized a solution to how they'd split their plaque, while the other two are of the guys playing their classic songs "American Psycho" and, as embedded below, "Red", so how'd they sound in their grand return to the stage? About as good as fans would expect, and they covered both their early indie days and later punk era at a good standard! Check out "Red" below, and more above!



Next is another video from prolific local punk musician Mikey Hawdon's huge YouTube channel (which has over 200 videos), and this time, we'll take a look at his current original punk quartet The Fairmounts' only local concert appearance to date, specifically the annual Halloween Party from J.D. Pearce at The Algonquin Pub in October 2012! Decked out in their best Village People costumes, this is a short video of them humorously doing the "YMCA" dance and bantering about their costumes at the set's beginning, but it cuts out just as their first song begins. Still fun, and increasingly timely given the approach of October, so give it a look below!



Also today is this video of local Celtic punk quartet Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide playing their song "Gypsy Wagons" at Dauphin's Countryfest in Manitoba last June, as originally uploaded by Mikey's Fairmounts bandmate Andrew McMullen on his YouTube channel a few days later! Humorously featuring fiddler Sheldon Jaaskelainen in a unicorn mask, this is a solid instrumental performance that lends itself well to their Celtic influences, but punk fans may be left hanging a bit. Note that the band played with a guest mandolin player on this song, and I don't believe Mikey's drumming in the clip, but names aren't given in the description. Well done and energetic as expected, so give this DJRT video a look below, and stay tuned for some concert news from their camp!



Finally, here's a local punk band's song from another 1990s compilation CD, as per Algoma bassist Kevin Campbell's YouTube channel! Like with their appearance on the "Punk: The Next Generation"  compilation from 1995, this song is from defunct local punk quartet The Spigots, who supplied "Beer Goggles" to the 1993 compilation CD "Dead On The Road", which also featured songs from notable bands like Random Killing, The Ripcordz, and The Bunchofuckingoofs. Starting in a bluesy tone before transitioning to a fast skate punk style, this is better and more natural sounding than "Change To Hate", and it has a nice hardcore spirit, so check it out below, and check the above links for more from this compilation!

Local Punk Video Showcase (Part 1)

Witha  slower fall season, and following our formal introduction of all punk subgenres into our coverage, it's high time we begin sharing some archive YouTube videos from local (non-hardcore) punk bands and concerts on the site! To avoid future repeats of these features, these looks at older punk videos will be centered around YouTube channels that have less than 50% of their content being SMS-fitting, so we can save more substantial channels for our YouTube Channel Profile Series each month. You'll notice some trends and recurring artists due to the amount of videos from certain acts, but I hope to have a punk video showcase at least once a week for the next while. So, what's up first?

Randomly organizing this week's chosen videos, we'll start with prolific local punk musician Mikey Hawdon's YouTube channel, which will absolutely recur in these showcases over the coming weeks, as his channel is loaded with older videos of his local punk bands! We'll start though with Mikey's solo performance clips, as he's posted vocal & guitar covers and originals alike off and on since 2008, which you can see at this link (just look for thumbnails that just have him with good lighting.) Most of Mikey's solo videos are of acoustic Green Day covers, which he definitely knows very well given his work fronting the Green Day tribute The Dookies, though his earlier videos include renditions of Screeching Weasels & All songs, and assorted originals (I think) like "Outta My Head" & "So Wonderful", among many others. Fans should know Mikey's talents by now as both a drummer and frontman, and he channels his singing and guitar work nicely on his solo videos, though the video quality does improve on later clips.

Embedded below is a well viewed cover of Green Day's "Having A Blast" from 2008 that is predictably well done, so if you like Mikey's work as a singer & guitarist, be sure to check out his solo videos!



Next is another band that will recur in our punk video showcases, and Mikey's a member of this band too, that being local/Toronto celtic punk quartet Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide! With their extensive touring of recent years, they have a solid amount of YouTube videos, with four such clips coming from the YouTube channel of Salads bassist Chuck Dailey, via a DJRT concert in Toronto in December 2010 where they opened for White Cowbell Oklahoma. The videos are of a fiddle-driven instrumental, their song "Alright", and a surprise (incomplete) cover of The Regents' "Barbara Ann", but embedded below is the guys playing their song "Time Well Spent". Shot close to the stage, the lighting is dark aside from the band, which creates a nice mood, and the audio quality is pretty good as well! Like before, their unique hybrid style plays well on these videos, with a nice ethnic feel to contrast the punk attitude, so give Chuck's videos of The Rising Tide a look!



Among assorted other punk videos to watch for in our punk showcases, here's two linked older punk originals from two different local bands, courtesy of Algoma bassist Kevin Campbell's YouTube channel! Kevin uploads a lot of old independent punk and hardcore albums (local and otherwise) there, including a 1995 compilation CD named "Punk: The Next Generation" released by Barely Legal Records that featured Canadian punk bands, two of which were from the Soo! One of the songs is "Good Enuff" by Room 206, which is a solid song with a catchy hook, but the vocals almost sound like they're being sung through a telephone. The other local track is "Change To Hate" by defunct local punk rockers The Spigots, whose lineup in the book "Going Underground" featured singer Trevor Harding, guitarist Jeff Nisbet, bassist Frank Guidoccio, and drummer Jeffery Osbourne. Entertaining skate punk song with good aggressive vocals, but I can't say I like the drum beat in the chorus between the gang vocals, which sounds too artificial.

Kevin;s channel is full of interesting songs and albums from obscure independent punk bands, so give everything a look above, including the whole compilation album that Room 206 & The Spigots are on, which even features a song from The Ripcordz, and here's The Spigots' "Change To Hate"!



Finally, here's a video relating to Juno-nominated local/Toronto indie punk legends Treble Charger, who will also recur in these showcases, as they have a ton of YouTube videos! This, however, is an interview with frontman Greig Nori and guitarist Bill Priddle by Vanessa Vai & Vanessa Markov of Toronto's Hits 'N Giggles Radio in March 2012, so what's discussed therein? It's an informative and fun interview that covers both contemporary issues and stuff from Treble Charger's past, though note that there's no direct references to the Soo. Saultites In Out Of Town Bands Profile: Jeff Nisbet

One more feature post for the month of June, now in it's new permanent spot near the end of any given month, and for just the second time, we are taking a look at a solo artist originally from Sault Ste. Marie! As always, this series profiles and discusses bands and acts that, though not based here, feature at least one local member. That continues today, and hopefully you guys enjoy what I have for you guys in this month's Saultites In Out Of Town Bands Profile! Local Info: Fans of the local scene from the 1990s are bound to remember Jeff Nisbet, most notably as guitarist for the defunct local punk band The Spigots! They (and Jeff) were prominently featured in Paolo Colasacco's book "Going Underground" if you want to read up on some of the more detailed elements of Jeff's run as a prominent local guitarist, which included numerous concerts at The Windsor Hotel during "the second wave". However, Jeff was a metalhead first and foremost, growing up playing metal in the 1980s, eventually forming the local metal band Broken Halo during his high school years. Though Jeff got a Bachelor of Arts in classical guitar, he opted to seek employment in other fields, now owning a Kitchener-based consulting firm, though he never dropped the guitar!

Band Bio: Though largely playing the guitar for fun in recent years, Jeff launched solo band pages in early 2010 to share some of his original compositions with a wider audience from his current base in Kitchener. Old fans of The Spigots may be hoping for punk, but this stuff is straight up metal, and Jeff certainly hasn't lost a step over the years! His original tracks posted on his Reverbnation & SoundCloud pages are all very proficient, while being very heavy at the same time! They don't follow rigid structures, the drum arrangements are well done, and it's hard to believe when listening that just one guy is doing all the work! Jeff has an ear for heavy riffs and melodies, very thrashy feel to everything, and his solos? Very nice! I can only imagine how this would sound live, or with vocals. I understand the lighter approach to his solo work, but it'd be cool to see these songs progressed further, cause Jeff himself is doing everything right to make some really fast, thrashy, and awesome heavy metal tracks! His solo project appears to be inactive (with no updates since August 2011), but definitely become a fan, you should really dig his solo work!
