Firstly, as we mentioned on the SMS last night, the fourteenth Roosevelt Hotel metal night is TONIGHT, featuring three metal bands ready to rock as always! Headlining are local death metal quintet The Bear Hunters, who have two new original songs to debut tonight along with their hard hitting and quite-moshable selection of originals and covers! They'll do awesome as headliners tonight, so don't miss them! Desbarats death metallers For All That Is Lost will return to the Soo for the first time in three weeks as the direct support band, and if you've missed them lately, be there tonight! They've been quite impressive in their past local sets, and will fit right in once again! Rounding out the lineup is classic metal quartet Sativa Rose, in their second straight Rosie metal night. Though their sound won't approach a death metal style, they're quite a talented and entertaining group, and shouldn't be missed either! Admission is free, you must be 19 to attend, and it all starts at 9:30 PM tonight. Click here for more details! Sounds like this will be a great show, I wish I could make it, but I won't be home until Sunday. Still, make it out, you won't be sorry! For a preview, here's The Bear Hunters playing their original song "Succumb To Eternity"!
Next up, a pair of local hard rock bands are playing weekend sets at local concert spots, one of which being Sault Michigan's own Monkey's Uncle! Continuing from their extensive schedule of Kewadin Casino weekends (more on that in our next post), the band will return to The Rapids Lounge for shows tomorrow night & Saturday night! Both have announced start times of 7:00 PM on the band's MySpace page (they'll likely start later though), there's no listed cover charge, and you must be 21 to attend. Check the above links for more details! It's always good to see Monkey's Uncle up and at 'em locally, and with their return to updating their online pages, we're back in the loop no matter when they're back on stage! I have much more on Monkey's Uncle to share soon, but go see them this weekend at Kewadin Casino if you can! For a preview, here's Monkey's Uncle covering Nazareth's "Hair Of The Dog" in St. Ignace a few years back!
Also this weekend, Turner Up are scheduled to return to The Nicolet Tavern for a concert weekend tomorrow & Saturday night! With their new lineup in the full swing of things, they'll be poised to rock out with some classic hard rock covers all weekend long, so remember that! As always, these shows should have 10:30 PM start times or later, no cover charge, and a 19+ age limit. Like last week's shows at Docks, visible promotion of the shows has been later than usual, with no Facebook event page yet as well, but if last week was any indication, I imagine it's just late. I doubt the shows are off, we'd have heard something to that effect already if they were, so make it out to The Nic this weekend to "turn 'er up" with Turner Up! Click here for more details, and when videos or audio of the new lineup are discovered, I'll have them here!
Finally, Sneaky Pete are back for their second ever local concert on Saturday night! A month after their well recieved local debut at The Rockstar Bar, this talented quartet of hard rock veterans will make their first ever stop at The Roosevelt Hotel for a night of hard rocking covers from the old and new days! This show will have a 10:30 PM start time, no cover charge, and a 19+ age limit, as is typical for The Rosie. For more details, visit the official Facebook event page! I've been hoping to check out Sneaky Pete for a while now, and I'd definitely be there on Saturday if I was up in time! Oh well, hopefully third time's a charm! They have the talent and the hard rock chops to impress, so be sure to see them on Saturday at The Rosie! For a preview, click here for the first video footage of Sneaky Pete, featuring various clips of some of their songs from their debut! I can't embed it here, but it's a good taste of what to expect this weekend!
That's all for now, but stay tuned for a new news post featuring LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS, new video footage, and more! Thanks everyone!
