It's now time to touch on most of this weekend's concert previews, and if you're wondering, we will cover The Emergency Festival TOMORROW to give it proper emphasis, and the Ballot Burner show will likely be previewed on Sunday given that's still a few days off. Today, we have shows on each side of the border to look at, starting with SHORT NOTICE LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS, so here's what you should know!
Sault Michigan hard rock quartet 415E will make their Brimley debut THIS SATURDAY for the first annual Rock 4 Life fundraiser event at a unique venue! Apologies for the short notice, we only heard about this event via the official Facebook event page on Tuesday. Hosted by & to be held at Vansloten Tile & Floor Covering (you read that right) at 8039 West 6 Mile Road in Brimley, the event is a fundraiser for the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, where organizers hope to raise $2,500 for the cause, which is awesome of them! The event will feature 50/50 draws, hot dog and refreshment sales, alcohol for attendees over 21, and an open mic block, so bring your instruments and/or voices if you want to jam out! Making their first public concert appearance since June (not counting the private house party on Sugar Island last week), 415E will be joined by Rudyard classic/country rock quartet Steelhead (formerly Ricochet), whose lineup features Banned alum Alex Schrovenwever on vocals & guitar, so keep them in mind as well!
A minimum $5 cover charge is advertised (though promoters will accept more given the charitable causes), this is ALL AGES, and an early 1:00 PM start time is advertised. For more details, visit the above links! This is a unique show given it's location both ways (Brimley doesn't come up much as a location for concerts that we cover, let alone at a flooring and carpeting store), but it's great to see 415E & Steelhead joining forces for a great cause, and hopefully there's a nice turnout on Saturday afternoon for what's hoped to be the first of many Rock 4 Life events! For a preview, here's 415E live!
Next up, Sault Ontario classic/hard rock quartet Havadder will reportedly return to the stage THIS SATURDAY NIGHT for a one-nighter at The Rockstar Bar! Apologies for the short notice, the show was only announced by the venue on this Facebook event page on Sunday, so we held it for our previews. Though the band themselves have yet to confirm the show, this would be Havadder's first concert in three weeks, and first at The Rockstar Bar since the fundraiser in June for drummer Scott McLurg during his heart attack recovery. Nice to see Havadder back at 'er for another night of fun and often hard-edged covers for their fans, so keep this in mind for THIS SATURDAY! Note that they are not playing there tomorrow due to The Rockstar Bar's new Rockstar Republic weekly dance nights, but no word on if Havadder have a separate show planned elsewhere tomorrow.
There's no announced cover charge (but bring $5 just in case), a 19+ age limit, and a 10:30 PM start time in effect, so for more details, visit the above links, and here's Havadder live earlier this year!
Moving to previously announced shows, let's look at longtime Caveman Morrison frontman Tym Morrison's ongoing weekly concert runs, as he's back from his vacation for matinee shows at Gliss Steak & Seafood TONIGHT, TOMORROW, and SATURDAY, and then at The Harp Bar & Grill as usual TOMORROW NIGHT! However, note that his usual Saturday nighter at The Harp is apparently not taking place this week, as per the Facebook event page. A reason hasn't been announced that I've seen, but it's not due to a UFC PPV, the next one is next month. Disappointing for fans, but hopefully he'll be back there next Saturday! Continuing his year and a half+ run at the former Madison's Pub, as well as his newer run at the downtown restaurant, fans who missed Tym's diverse and often heavy range of acoustic covers last week are in luck over the next few days, as his solo show is back in full swing once again, and if you know his talents and experience, great shows are to be expected!
There is no admission charge announced for any of these dates (but remember that Gliss is a restaurant), the Gliss shows are at 6:00 PM, Friday's Harp show starts at 10:00 PM, and the latter has a 19+ age limit. For more details, check the above links and this link, and here's Tym live!
Finally for today's previews, Traverse City classic metal trio Peril will return to the Eastern Upper Peninsula TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT for solo headlining dates at The Northern Pines Lounge at the St. Ignace Kewadin Casino! These will be the first shows from Jeff, Adam, and Brooks in our neck of the woods since their St. Ignace gigs in March, which is longer than usual for the guys, but they haven't played as frequently in 2015 as they have in the past. Peril's talented and road-tested blend of covers should be more than welcomed back to the stage in St. Ignace this weekend, so don't miss out on Peril's return (or, circle the October 9th weekend in the Soo on your calendars!) There's no announced cover charges for this weekend's shows, you must be 21 to attend, and 9:00 PM start times are likely. Check the above links for more details, and here's Peril playing multiple songs live!
That's all for today, but stay tuned for our Emergency Festival preview and more tomorrow! Thanks everyone!
