Defunct Local Band Profile Series: BeeFMouTH

It's now time for this month's Defunct Local Band Profile Series, as we continue our monthly spotlighting of defunct and inactive local metal, hard rock, and punk bands for current readers! We're flashing back two decades for this month's randomly selected band, who have some very familiar faces for contemporary and modern fans alike, so here's what you should know!

Audio/Video: If BeeFMouTH recorded or released any studio material, it isn't available online, but at least seven vintage videos from their original run can be seen on their posthumous YouTube channel, which first began posting available footage back in 2008. These are primarily jam session clips of original songs, but two VHS camcorder videos were posted there from a concert at Club Princess back in 1999, including their set-opening performance of "White", which is embedded below. As well, Boyd later posted a Koolies & Cues video and another jam clip to his personal YouTube channel, and a private (if short) jam session video from 2013 was uploaded to his film company's YouTube channel.

Info/Analysis: Self proclaimed as "the bulldog of the ponies", BeeFMouTH (intentionally capitalized like that) were a fan favourite noise rock band that was active locally from 1997-2001, debuting on stage in November 1999. Their original run predated social media, but their YouTube channel and posthumous Facebook page (updated from 2011-2016) helped refresh memories of the band via vintage photos, videos, and concert posters. In their heyday, they were frequently seen sharing the stage with bands like Bankshot, Downshift, and Thessalon hardcore band Foul Play, and they received perhaps their biggest audience when they opened for AFI at the Princess in July 2000. Over a decade after disbanding, Boyd & Kevin resurfaced with new stage names in their current doom metal trio AlgomA, though Kevin is their primary singer in this band. In October 2013, BeeFMouTH reunited for a jam session filmed for YouTube, though a rumoured public reunion set did not follow.

As I was 12 when BeeFMouTH disbanded, I cannot speak first-hand for their local run, but they had an entertaining live attack that helped lay the groundwork for their future music work! This band had a faster, more energetic sound than AlgomA's intentionally doomy and slow approach, though it fit right in with the very active local hardcore punk scene locally at the turn of the millenium, and Boyd's high screams helped set them apart! The guys have obviously gotten more refined and experienced as musicians and for their equipment since, but BeeFMouTH are worth checking out for fans and those curious as to what they were up to pre-AlgomA!

A New BeeFMouTH Video, A Guitarist's Band Search, And Much More!!

Keeping the news rolling on this Monday, we have an assortment of stories to touch on, so what's in store? Some feature profile updates, more assorted topics, and a band search from a promising local metal guitarist, but let's begin with a newly posted reunion video of a familiar band from the turn of the millennium, so here's what you need to know!

First up, here's a surprise video featuring a BeeFMouTH reunion! Yes, the late 1990s noise rock trio (featuring AlgomA's Darby Wigwaus & Marty Chase, a.k.a. Bwaad & MoDez) apparently got back together a couple of years ago around the Christmas holidays for a jam session, which was filmed and finally uploaded to 62nd Chamber Productions' YouTube channel on Saturday. The video is short (just 57 seconds), and rather than titling it by the song's name, it's called "The Falling Coffee", referencing exactly what that implies, so keep an eye out for it! The jam sounds good and heavy, but from what was posted, there are no featured vocals. The timing is curious too, as the upload comes a week out from AlgomA's set at The Big Loonie Bus Show in Echo Bay this coming Saturday, so could this be a hint that a BeeFMouTH reunion will be the concert's "special secret attraction"? I have no clue personally, but it'd be cool to see a return show at any point, as I enjoyed the old videos they posted! Check out this BeeFMouTH reunion jam video below, and GET YOUR TICKETS A.S.A.P. Next up, we have a new band search and video from a Sault Ontario metal guitarist named Matthew Parr, so what should you know? On the Musicians Wanted Facebook group on Thursday, Matt posted that he was a metal rhythm guitarist that was looking for a band or like-minded musicians to work with, and that he's influenced by progressive and death metal bands like Meshuggah and Veil of Maya. He plays seven string guitars and can program drums, and has posted a series of solo recordings under the handle The Hiroshima Mutant Mindframe onto Soundcloud, that you can check out at this link. Even though I wasn't familiar with his music before the other day, I have to give him props, as he's a really talented guitarist with a lot of creative ideas, and I think local bands should give him a serious look, so message him at this location or above if you're interested! As one more sample, he posted this cover of Volumes' "Two-One" onto his YouTube channel last year (oddly, his only performance clip there), and it features Matt playing both guitar parts on the original with videos of each. Really solid, so check out Matt's Volumes cover below!



Also today, here's three assorted shorter news stories from the last little while, and as usual, these are in alphabetical order by band or conpany name:

• Are changes afoot concerning local grunge quartet Haggith's lineup? Drummer Mike Haggith posted about a bassist search on the Musicians Wanted Facebook group on Friday, though in a comment reply, he said that current bassist Caleb Cachagee is still around, and they're "just looking at some other options" towards a possible shift in direction. I find Caleb's a good fit with the band, but we'll have to see what comes of this, if anything. Stay tuned!
• In our Sault Ontario links section on the left of the page, I've edited the link to Rockin' Vinyl Records to replace it's now expired website with their Facebook page, just to keep things current and working. In case you forgot, this is the locally owned vinyl record/music collectible store at 415 Northland Road, which has a solid selection of merchandise, so check them out above!
• Ex-Late & Loud singer/guitarist Jonathan Tiberi's solo project The Soviet Space Program (which was launched locally last year before he moved from the Soo) is still alive, as he posted on their Facebook page last night to confirm that he is "working on some new missions." Great to hear, so keep an eye out for Jon's next solo original song postings!

Finally for today, here's some assorted updates to our Battle of the Bands Rewind Profiles from late 2009 and onward! On multiple profiles relating to these battle competitors, I noted that local rock band Wishbone have been reunited this year by frontman Dennis Duguay (more information on their new lineup and such is forthcoming), while I also noted Sykotyk Rampage's 8 new digital free albums, and edited the genre for two-time battle runners-up The Fury to note that they were essentially a punk band, though I'll note that they hated genre classifications. In the section on the Kiss Battle of the Bands' profile to note competitors' later bands, I replaced Fusion, The Inner City Surfers, The London Gentlemen, Pocketful of Scoundrel, and Zero Hour with 415E, Al Wood & The Woodsmen, The Fairmounts, Havadder, and The Side FX, either to acknowledge newer and more prominent bands, or to remove bands who are either defunct, not as active, or no longer feature battle alumni in their lineups. Finally, I made a similar edit to that section on our Sault College Battle Profile, to replace Zero Hour again with Mike Haggith & The Din, who then-Blackwater bassist James Watterworth joined on saxophone earlier this year. LOCAL CONCERT ALERT (Soul Killing Female), A Possible New Metal Band & Venue, And More Updates!!

Yet again, we have another news post for you guys to check out on this Wednesday morning, so what's on tap? After a three day run of Sault Michigan-focused posts, we're 100% dedicated to Sault Ontario today, including a possible new concert you can help make a reality, some more assorted news, and leading off, a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT for a new concert... at a new venue... featuring a new opening band that may fit SMS coverage, so read on below for what you need to know!

A newly discovered metal concert will go down on March 24th at a new venue that we haven't covered on the SMS before! The venue is 180 Projects, a new arts/culture venue at 180 Gore Street, which is in the former MJ's building (near the Mac's on the corner of Gore & Cathcart.) 180 Projects has been making a name for itself with art exhibitions, concerts, and other local events since it opened in (I think) January but, this is the first concert there with a metal implement that I know of, via the headliners, Winnipeg cyber-sludge metal band Soul Killing Female, who you may remember as one of the bands at last summer's Weak Ends-headlined all ages show at The Oddfellows Hall! Their tech-influenced sound has a lot going for it, mixing contemporary hard rock, doom metal, and industrial effects into a quality package of metal, and hopefully this show will attract a larger crowd than their show last year did! There will be two local opening bands, including Honest Job, a new folk rock quartet that I know little on so far, but they have an interesting folksy sound that should attract a good following, and though they're not heavy, give them a listen at this location!

The other band at this show may very well be metal-leaning, but though I can't yet confirm their sound, here's what we do know. Their name is AlgomA, they're a new local band that formed last fall, and their lineup includes at least 3 members (former BeeFMouTH bandmates Kevin Campbell & Boyd Rendell, and Kidshit/ex-Fuller bassist Jamie Vincent on drums, I think.) My sources for the lineup information are Kevin & Boyd's personal Twitter pages (Darby Wigwaus & The Midnight Rambler.) According to Boyd's posts on the blog for his independent film company 62nd Chamber Productions, AlgomA news has been intentionally low-key until they begin playing live, and leading from that, there's no public online pages, genre indications, or anything similar yet to indicate if they'll be an extension of their old hardcore BeeFMouTH sound, or something softer (for what it's worth, the previous 180 Projects shows have been folk/acoustic based.) As well, there is one preview video online hyping AlgomA's debut, but the only audio is a beeping noise. Metal or not, AlgomA will be unveiled in just under two weeks!

I have heard no confirmation as of yet on if there will be a 19+ age limit, or what the cover charge will be, but I'll let you guys know if it comes in, while a start time of around 9:00 PM wouldn't surprise me. Check the above links for more details! This should be an interesting show for the newer local talent, Soul Killing Female's unique metal sounds, and the new venue alone, and it's great to see 180 Projects welcoming some heavier tunes! It's also awesome to see live music returning to Gore Street, even if it's not a re-opening of Club Princess or GLOW, and hopefully 180 Projects succeeds for the long term! Of course, stay tuned to the SMS for updates on this show as they come in, and as for AlgomA, Boyd also revealed on 62nd Chamber Productions' blog that AlgomA are also scheduled to join returning local hardcore quintet Destroilet at an yet-unannounced June 20th concert, where they'll reportedly open for Surrey, B.C. hardcore punk band The Golers. This hasn't been confirmed through any other source, but it could be the same as either of the Dayglo Abortions or Bunchofuckinggoofs shows that Destroilet had plugged in recent weeks. Either way, stay tuned for updates on that show and AlgomA's sound!

Also today, can you help a band get a local concert booking for next month? I've recently been in contact with a promoter that's looking to get Brockville southern hard rock band Colfax booked for a Sault Ontario date on April 7th or 8th. He had first contacted me last fall about a possible Colfax booking in October, but that got misplaced due to being placed in Facebook's "other" e-mail folder rather than my main inbox (I've missed a few booking inquiries that way), but luckily, Colfax will be back touring Ontario next month! Their sound has a catchy southern groove with a hard edge and some label support on past releases, and they'd be cool to see playing here next month! I sent him some promoter contacts, but if you're interested in booking or helping promote a Colfax concert in town on April 7th or 8th, message Saul Goode at this location, and fingers crossed that they get a local date this time around!

Finally for today, here's three assorted recent shorter stories from the last little while, and as always, these are in alphabetical order by band name:

• Stemming from our AlgomA news above, if you come across the MySpace page for an inactive local band named 62 Chambers of Death, that appears to be a loose posthumous page for BeeFMouTH judging by the material & descriptions, which all line up with existing BeeFMouTH online postings & media despite the different name. Nice to hear some old live audio demos from their late 1990s heyday though, so check out that page to check out what's there!
• Newer local goregrind project Crucify The Whore revealed on their Facebook page on Sunday that they'll be slowing down activity for a bit to work on other Blood Shed Productions projects, but plan to resurface in the summer with new material to be announced. I'm not sure what will come of all this, but stay tuned for any big updates!
• According to their Facebook page, The Suicide Kings' EP recording sessions at The Smoke & Oak Room were almost done as of Monday night, with just an hour's worth and one bass track left. Awesome to see things going by so quickly, but when might we see the final product? I'll keep you guys posted!

With Blood Builds Character & BeeFMouTH Videos, Woods V Reviews, And More!!

Wow, it's been a slow streak for news lately, hasn't it? That, and I got a cold that's sapped some of my energy, but there definitely hasn't been a lot of news this week so far, which explains the wait for this new post. We've got stuff today though, including your first glimpse of a new local band, a new video from a late 1990s metal band, some new "W5" reviews, updates to one of our monthly feature series, and a new video from a local guitarist, so read on below for what you need to know!

First up, here's our first video footage of new local hardcore band With Blood Builds Character! The new band formed by members of March Into Regression of course debuted at the F.A.T.I.L. Requiem in Laird on Saturday, and two videos of their set were shot by attendee Tiia Opala-Ollinaho and uploaded to Facebook over the last couple of days, so click here to check them both out! I normally wouldn't share new personal Facebook page-uploaded videos here, but when it's all you have, they're too notable to not share! One video features W.B.B.C.'s current lineup (plus guest drummer Travis St. Amour, who's not staying full time from what I have heard), and the other video features M.I.R. singer/Bear Hunters guitarist Josh Stephney filling in on vocals. Not sure on the exact identity of either song, but the latter sounds familiar. These videos are of solid quality (though the first one is flipped sideways for some reason), and Jeremy does add a unique spin compared to most recent hardcore singers locally, though I've noticed from available photos and videos that their set on Saturday may have taken a more jam session/informal feel like March Into Regression's shows did. Even former M.I.R. bassist Dan Souliere is seen filling in for Tyler St. Amour in some photos I've seen , so it's almost like it was the same band with a different name.

I hope there's more distinction between With Blood Builds Character and March Into Regression in the future (if they are indeed different bands as Travis had said), but either way, W.B.B.C. and M.I.R. both have promise, and hopefully we'll see and hear more from them to come, so stay tuned for updates!

Next up, here's a new video from defunct local hardcore punk trio BeeFMouTH! This is of Kevin Campbell & Boyd Rendell's old band playing their song "Tar" at a 1999 jam session, and it was uploaded to Boyd's YouTube channel on July 31st following some post-editing by Boyd's film company 62nd Chamber Productions (who are now in our "Other Local Metal Links" section.) Now, the video has a 62nd Chamber watermark, no letterboxes, a green hue and some more old fashioned effects, and a sound upgrade, and while I don't know if I'd have made it look older, it's a nice look back 13 years! The audio's decent, and though the members all face each other, the video quality isn't bad. "Tar" has that solid mix of high pitched vocals and heaviness again, though this is slower and doomier than some of BeeFMouTH's other available tracks. It's definitely worth checking out, and kudos to Boyd for posting this online for us to check out, so give BeeFMouTH's performance of "Tar" a look below!



Thirdly, here's yet more reviews of Woods of Ypres' powerful final studio album "Woods V: Grey Skies & Electric Light"! In February, "Patrick" from the blog Beards etc. gave an A grade to "Woods V", calling it "a very emotional experience" and an early contender for album of the year (although he admitted being biased), even admitting that parts of the album brought him close to tears. It's great to know that David Gold's music can have that effect on some people, it's a testament to his songwriting skills and influence, and check out Patrick's review at this location! In April, Peter Clegg from the blog We Must Obey gave "W5" a positive review, calling it "phenomenal" and a "fitting epitaph", while emphasizing the finality and "death note" feeling that it gave. Solid review, and well written, so click here to read it! Finally, a writer at the doom metal website Doommantia gave "Woods V" a 7/10 rating in February, recommending the album on it's heavy & emotional lyrics, though docking points for what they saw as "minimalist" and "fairly simple" music. I appreciate the honesty in their comparisons to other doom metal bands and the musical quality, but I'd say David & Joel deserve more credit. Still, great points are raised, so click here for their review, and stay tuned for more "Woods V" reviews as I find them!

Also, here's some assorted updates to our YouTube Channel Profile Series, just to make our entries in that monthly feature series more accurate & current. In our Garden of Bedlam YouTube channel profile, I edited the channel info to note that it's no longer their currently-used YouTube channel (that distinction belongs to the "Videos of Bedlam" channel), along with noting that the former Foggy Notions (a frequent early venue of theirs) is now the new Coch's Corner, and also a minor note on songs from their Rotaryfest 2010 set now being on their "Everything Will Die" CD. Similarly, I edited the profile on guitarist Josh Belleau's YouTube channel to note the abundance of official channels. On the joeybeairl channel profile, I renamed Unleashed drummer Jacob Hotland's current band from Tantrum to their new name Tantrym Tyme, and I also restored the video for Candle Hour's song "Overture" due to it's link changing for one reason or another on their channel's profile. Finally for this batch of updates, I noted that ex-Swayze Train guitarist Scott Savoie has posted a new video to his YouTube channel in our profile of his channel, and because we haven't featured it here before, let's talk about it right now to close this post!

Posted on July 3rd, this must have got lost in the shuffle of our 5th anniversary posts, but it's of Scott's solo cover of the Periphery song "New Groove" (or, about 90 seconds of it.) It's very well done, but I wish Scott had covered more of the original track, but it's a solid start, and he knows it really well! Very technical, but he can handle it for the most part, so check out Scott's newest video below, and stay tuned for more on both him and our next YouTube Channel Profile updates soon!

Two "New" Local Hard Rock Bands, David Gold Tribute Album Updates, And More!!

Here's one more news post before TONIGHT'S 3 Inches of Blood show! So here, we have news on two new additions to our local band links, including a hard rock band we alluded to last week and an old school metal band from the late 1990s, plus updates on a locally relevant tribute album, updates to one of our feature series, and much more, so here's what you need to know!

Remember that 2008-2009 CASS Cafe band The Diego Experience that we mentioned in our first CASS Cafe metal video showcase? Well, they're still alive & active under a new name, and they have a Facebook group to go along with it! Apparently, they changed their name to Durera at some point between the fall of 2010 and last summer (unsure of an exact date), and though I don't know what prompted the name change, Durera does mean "shall last" in French, so that could be it's origin. Their lineup still includes the members from half of their YouTube videos (though with less visible instrument switching), including Mike "Diego" Brown & Keegan Gjos on vocals, A.J. Biron (Vendetta) & Brent Hurley on guitar, Column Ruins bassist Ben Eppert, and Brent's brother Ty on drums. They've lessened their ties to simply CASS Cafe events since 2010, and are apparently working on original material, but updates to their page are very scattered. With members divided between Sault Ontario, Echo Bay, and Desbarats for residence, they definitely fall within our coverage range, and luckily, they cover enough hard rock material to warrant SMS coverage based on their YouTube videos, so we've added them to our active band links!

The name change would explain why finding online pages for this band was so difficult, but thanks to A.J. for letting me know about them! Durera's old videos were a mixed bag for quality, but they could rock well when given the right cover, and on Def Leppard and Blue Oyster Cult material, there was definitely talent present that I hope carried over on a greater stage for any originals! Next up, here's our other new band addition, that being the defunct local "noise rock" trio BeeFMouTH! We've previously had them in our band links in the past, but after ruling that their YouTube channel didn't count as a band page, we hadn't featured them in recent months. That changes now though, as I just recently came across two posthumous band pages for them that were launched in December, including a Facebook page and a Tumblr page! The latter mostly links live concert videos from their 1997-2001 run, but there's some more interesting stuff on their Facebook page! It indicates that the members had the stage names "Bwaad", "MoDez", and "Neunen", but I'm unsure of their full identities (I believe 2 members were Kevin Campbell & Boyd Rendell though), and a bunch of photos give us some glimpses into their active local tenure, including stickers, the "BeeFMouTH head", and some cool retro concert posters, so click here to see them all! Nice to see the posters especially, from shows at venues at Koolies N' Cues and the Club Princess, with old local punk bands like Downshift and Bankshot, and I'm very curious about the Thessalon hardcore band Foul Play that are on most of the posters. I wonder how they sounded?

It's nice to see another posthumous band page like this, and BeeFMouTh are definitely a good candidate for some looks back! Their material reminds me of a doomier Winkstinger in some respects, but their sound is hard to pin down. High pitched yelling vocals, hard and slow riffs, but with a punk attitude at the same time... you'll have to hear them, but they're definitely metal! Also today, here's the latest news on the upcoming David Gold/Woods of Ypres tribute album! Among the most recent updates on "A Heart of Gold: A Tribute To Woods of Ypres" (whose recordings are still in progress) are another updated song listing for the album, which you can check out at this link, though it's missing some later or space-constrained additions. So far, the album now includes 20 tracks, including eight of the bands from the David Gold memorial concerts from the spring, including local death metal quintet The Bear Hunters for their cover of the second half of "Kiss My Ashes Goodbye", which is awesome to hear! I just hope they work on some improvements from their live version of it if this does make the final cut. I won't get to in depth yet about the track listing, as it's changed a lot since initial plans began, but one change I will note is that Gypsy Chief Goliath are now doing "Suicide Cargoload" in place of Rob Cranny following his sudden passing earlier in the year. The album will also apparently feature paragraphs from the contributing bands with rememberances of David Gold and Woods of Ypres, and ideas for an album cover are being bandied about, with this one by British artist Steve Cowan getting a lot of positive responses, though a final choice hasn't been made yet.

Progress on this album is ongoing, and I hope it lives up to David's memory and music as well as his talent and legacy deserves! Stay tuned for much more on this album as it comes in, as well as a great find concerning their last show from June 2011, so keep an eye out!

Fourth today, here's three assorted shorter stories from the last little while, and as always, these are in alphabetical order by band or event name:

• Sault Michigan music/tribute festival LemmaFest got an online commercial of sorts from Blueberry Video last month, so click here to check it out! It just has descriptive info on the bands and general events, with drumming for backing music. Nothing over the top, but effective, and I'm sorry it's so late!
• According to a post on the Musicians Wanted Facebook group earlier today by drummer Travis St. Amour, local hardcore/death metal band March Into Regression are apparently looking for a new singer & guitarist. If anyone left their latest lineup, I haven't heard about it, but this could just be for loose jamming and what have you. If you're interested, e-mail Travis A.S.A.P. at this location!
• On June 17th, Bear Hunters guitarist Mitch Sirie launched a new Facebook page for a progressive metal project named The Sorrow Fields, but few updates have came since. Whether this is a renaming of his April Eyes material or something new isn't known yet, but if this Facebook page gains any extra use and updates, I'll let you guys know!

And finally, here's two more updates to our Battle of the Bands Rewind Mini-Series entries, but first, remember that both of these were in have already been updated to reflect Bring The Misery's renaming to March Into Regression and recent lineups in the section for current bands from battle alumni, as Bring The Fallen played at both. For our YMCA Battle of the Bands profile, I've added references to 4th place band Operation: Killdozer's ties with their successors Winkstinger, including how Jesse & Jonas' current band saw later battle success at last month's Battle For The Blood, and how they reworked the Operation: Killdozer song "Pieces of You" into what's now "Where'd We Go Wrong". For our Kiss Battle of the Bands Profile, I've replaced Trail's End, The Southern Fried Band, The Business Suit Trappers, Asylum Country, Havadder, and The Wild Turkeys with newer bands in the section for battle alumni's current projects, with their replacements being The London Gentlemen, Skeyes of Seven, Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide, Sailor's Tongue, Barrie rock band Angels of Fire, and March Into Regression. I also briefly noted for the competitors' current statuses that winners Garden of Bedlam are playing at this year's Rotaryfest, and noted Sykotyk Rampage's updated album count and Huckster's likely inactivity. Garden Of Bedlam Updates, Shaw TV News, And Much More!!

Let's get some more news going on the site today, and it's a mix of things from changes to band links and profiles on the SMS to a new video from a local project to two very cool Garden of Bedlam-releated stories from the last little while, so let's get this post going!

If you're still anxiously awaiting the release of Garden of Bedlam's full length album "Everything Will Die", maybe this image will build some more anticipation! It was posted onto their Facebook page last night, and though not a lot is said, it seems self-explanatory. I'd assume that the image either is the album's cover or contains elements of it, and the date of December 26th seems to imply what you're probably thinking it implies. That said, if "Everything Will Die" does indeed come out on Boxing Day, what are the specifics? That, I don't know. I'd assume that the album will come out on CD format with a likely mp3 release on iTunes or similar stores around the same time, and it should have at least 9 songs. The Rad Zone would be a likely local retail outlet to sell it, and a CD release show tied in would make sense, but all we have publically available is this image and the date upon it as of right now. I'm definitely excited to finally have Garden of Bedlam's first full length album in my possession after over a year of waiting, but there's still details to come, so stay tuned for the SMS as soon as more official word on it's release comes out, but circle Boxing Day on your calendars!

Also in Garden of Bedlam related news, the band (save for Josh Belleau) are featured in a new Shaw TV interview piece by Christian Lemay (who previously did pieces on As It Stands & Dismembertainment), and this time, it focuses on local music/collectibles store The Rad Zone in the Wellington Square Mall! The bulk of the interview focuses on Rad Zone owner Paul Muncaster, who talked in detail about The Rad Zone's beginnings, it's connections with the local community, and yes, their support of local music and what they do and offer to local bands, and it's great to see him show this much support so well over the years! He seemed friendly and humble, and the Shaw TV crew got some great interior shots of The Rad Zone, along with comments from local photographer Rob Majury (who's done photography work for them) and members of Garden of Bedlam (including bassist & Rad Zone employee Evan Belleau.) They outlined their support and praise of Paul and The Rad Zone for what they've done for the band and the local music scene, along with some news relating to what Garden of Bedlam merchandise you can buy in-store. It's a very nice and complementary interview with all parties, so definitely check it out wherever you can!

So when can you see this interview? As of today, it's running about once every 24 minutes, so it's not rigidly placed enough to give a real time to see it. For reference, it comes on after a piece on a local 102 year old woman and a Shaw TV commercial, and it's about 5 minutes long. Apparently, it's been running on channel 10 (Shaw cable users only) since Monday, but I only just heard about the interview the other day, and I sincerely apologize for being late to get the word out on the SMS. It's a great video on an awesome store that gives 110% to the local music community, and definitely check it out while it's still on rotation! I believe it will be off air by Monday, but it should be posted on Shaw TV's website early next week for about a week, and hopefully for the Christmas season, I'll have a copy to post on YouTube for a present! Next up, ApocalyptiCDistroyeR frontman Jesse Middaugh uploaded another solo performance video onto the band's YouTube channel yesterday, and it's basically a more refined version of his acoustic song "You Mean The World To Me" that he posted last month. The lyrics are still a bit repetitive, and Jesse's tone is grittier than the song probably needs, but it's not a bad softer track, if atypical from much of ApocalyptiCDistroyeR's past output. Give it a look below, along with much more solo and band material at the above links!



And finally for today, here's three assorted shorter stories related to site changes and band link adjustments, and as usual, these are in alphabetical order by band name:

• I've removed the defunct Sault Ontario hardcore band BeeFMoutH from our Inactive Local Band Links because the page I linked them with (a YouTube channel under the BeeFMoutH name) isn't really a "band page", so to speak. They were entertaining with a unique edge though, so check out some of their posted videos at the above link!
• I'll likely be moving Sault Michigan solo metal project BlisteringBane to our Inactive Local Band Links tomorrow due to a year's inactivity. Bandleader Jordon Jones hasn't updated the project's MySpace page since a year ago tomorrow, when he implied a hiatus for the project anyway due to losing "the stuff" to make more music. Disappointing, but hopefully Jordon reemerges musically down the road!
• I've edited our Defunct Local Band Profile on local hardcore quartet Detroit to reflect the fact that guitarist Curtis Faux has since joined frontman Brenton Ellis in the active Toronto hardcore punk band Maximum RNR, a fact I alluded to on the site last month as well. Not a huge change, but I thought I'd mention it, and check out Maximum RNR at the above links for an extension of the Detroit sound!

Local Metal Video Showcase!!

Happy December, everyone! Let's kick off the final month of 2011 in style with a local metal video showcase, as we've got lots of videos to share today, including two cool full concert videos I recently came across, some now-on-YouTube videos from Half A Man, and a brand new track from a highly anticipated new album! Firstly though, I do want to apologize for missing a concert, as apparently, Sault Michigan hard rockers Powerslug played a concert at Golanka's Bar (The Bird) the day before Thanksgiving, along with at least two out of town gigs in Manistique. The band doesn't update pages anymore, and The Bird's pages never confirmed who was playing that Wednesday, so I couldn't reliably cover it (or the Manistique shows.) I'm sorry, I'll make it up! Now though, let's get this all video post going!

A brand new Woods of Ypres song from the upcoming "Woods V: Grey Skies & Electric Light" is now online! The second full track to be posted from the album, it's entitled "Kiss My Ashes (Goodbye)", and it was uploaded onto their label Earache Records' YouTube channel on Tuesday. How is it? I won't give my full thoughts yet, but it's a slower doom ballad of sorts with some orchestral touches, and it contains perhaps the lowest clean vocals that David Gold has ever sung on a Woods of Ypres track. Stay tuned to the SMS and band pages for sure over the next two months for more details on "W5", which is scheduled for release through Earache on January 30th (with our review pencilled in for early March!) Also in band news, Woods of Ypres have apparently found a new drummer to replace the departed Evan Madden (as alluded to on their Facebook page), but his identity has not been revealed yet. The hunt's still on for a bassist, so check the above link for details, and when I hear more on any new members, I'll be sure to let you guys know! Next up, did you miss the Shit Liver/Winkstinger concert at Feedback on Saturday night? Well, this might make up for it, as Shit Liver's entire set was filmed by YouTube user and local filmmaker Boyd Rendell! He posted this on Sunday right after the concert, and it includes all 15 songs that Shit Liver played in their 40 minute set. Inin order (and hopefully correctly labelled), their setlist included their cover of OBCD's "You Speak of Weak & We Don't Care", followed by their originals "Shit Liver", "You're Scared", and "Fabricated Nonsense", their new tracks "Shit Will Prevail" & "Helen Keller", their older originals "Survival of the Shittest", "Shift Liver", "Friendly Old (Uncle Joe)", "Contribute or Perish", "Hateroleum", their anti-breakdown song (didn't catch the title), "Drowning In Shit", and "Sewer Livin'", capped off by an encore cover of Macabre's "The Unabomber"! Nice quality video at a good angle to capture the band (though not much of the crowd), and kudos to Boyd for filming their set! I wonder if he got any footage of Winkstinger? Boyd has other videos on his YouTube channel too, including some of his old band work from groups like Nullfied Youth & BeeFMoutH, and last week, he posted three songs from BeeFMoutH's second concert onto his YouTube channel as well! This took place at the old Koolie's & Cues (now Breakaway Bar & Grill, I think) in the winter of 1999, and though the video quality isn't great (mainly due to washed out colour), it's a nice look back at late 1990s hardcore punk! The video featueres BeeFMoutH playing the songs "I Guess I'm...", "Three(Five)", and "Ewe-Buh-Buh-Bah-Buh-Buh" with some nice intensity & unique vocals, and this was part of a full 50 minute-plus video that Boyd uploaded this portion from. Solid stuff, so take a trip back 12 years to see BeeFMoutH live below!



Finally for today, we've already touched on these videos on here before, but they're brand new to YouTube, so I thought I'd make sure they got some real attention on the site. Brimley hard rockers Half A Man posted some new videos on their Facebook page last month, but they were deleted and later posted onto their YouTube channel on Friday. I won't go into a lot of detail again (I talked about these videos already on the 23rd), but they're solid instrumental samples of new songs, so definitely give them a look!
