Local funk/hard rock cover band The Wyld Stallyns will return to The Whisky Barrel TOMORROW NIGHT as the entertainment for their fourth anniversary party! Apologies for the short notice, this concert was only announced via both the venue's and band's Facebook pages on Monday. Yes, the Irish themed nightclub and venue at 113 Gore Street turns four years old this month, so congratulations to Dunbar and the rest of the staff there on all they've accomplished and persisted through since 2018! Fans will have last seen The Stallyns at this venue three weeks ago in a late fill-in set, but TOMORROW'S show seems to have had them set in place well early (the show only being publically announced on Monday acknowledged), and it's arguably their favourite spot to play in town, so don't miss out on their varied but often hard rocking covers!
TOMORROW's concert has a 9:00 PM start time, no cover charge, and a 19+ age limit as usual. For the occasion, the restaurant will be open until 11:00 PM, and if you're into the alcoholic pursuits, $4 shots and rail are also advertised. Visit the above links for more on TOMORROW'S festivities at The Whisky Barrel, and here are The Wyld Stallyns live!
Next up, local classic/hard rock cover quartet Soundcheck will return to Jay's Piston Broke Pub for traditional concerts TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! Again, apologies for the short notice, these shows were first announced on the venue's Facebook page on Tuesday (the band only acknowledged them earlier today). If you count their ongoing Thursday jam night hosting duties (including tonight), Soundcheck were the first band to play at 306 Korah Road after the former Reggie's West's ownership and name changes, but TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT's shows will be their first normal concerts under the Jay's banner, with Cameron in tow. Whether you know it as Jay's, Reggie's West, or even The Rosie, Soundcheck's old school hard rock and other assorted covers should find another solid audience TOMORROW & SATURDAY, so don't miss out!
As usual for Soundcheck's solo traditional concerts here, expect 9:30 PM start times, no cover charges, and 19+ age limits. See above for more on TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT's concerts, and here's Soundcheck live!
Moving to shows that had lots of advance notice, we'll stay in the west end, as local southern hard rock cover trio Bone Yard will return to The Esquire Club for concerts TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! These will surprisingly be Bone Yard's first (and only) advertised concerts of 2022 at the Second Line West nightclub, after missing out on their Buckets, Bands, and Birds matinee series from the first half of the year, and will see the guys replacing the originally advertised Tripod The Dog as this weekend's live entertainment. Just over a week out from Toystock, hopefully Greg, Alex, and Warren deliver a haymaker of hard rocking and southern fried covers for fans at The Esquire Club tomorrow and/or Saturday as usual! These shows have 9:30 PM start times, no cover charges, and 19+ age limits. Visit the official Facebook event page for more details, and here's Bone Yard live!
Finally for known hard rock concerts in Sault Ontario this weekend, local classic/hard rock cover quartet Obsession will return to Shooters Downstairs Lounge for concerts TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! After a successful return to the public & local stage over the Halloween weekend at The Esquire Club, these will be Obsession's first stops at Shooters with new lead singer Jess Amadio, and their first at the Dennis Street nightclub since way back in May. There are more Shooters gigs ahead, but with some real public experience under their belts together, hopefully this weekend's shows are big hits with lots of strong hard and classic rock favourites as usual! 8:00 PM start times are in effect, you must be 19 or older to attend, and there are no announced cover charges. Visit the official Facebook event page for more details, and for a preview, here's a new live video discovery!
This comes from Jess' live debut with Obsession at their Poohfest gig in White River in August, where they covered Trooper's "Raise A Little Hell" in this 23 second clip shot by attendee Elizabeth Pacaud and posted in a comment reply on the band's Facebook page that month. You don't see much (and primarily just Jess and Gabe), but it's fun while it lasts, and a good first window into their local gigs ahead, so check it out below!
