LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide And Havadder), Plus Sault Michigan Weekend Concert Previews!!

Hey guys, I know many of you are waiting for our recap of last night's VM Radio Battle of the Bands semifinal, but when this goes up, I'll be on the road to Gore Bay due to a family emergency, hence why this was auto-posted. Videos should be at least half uploaded by now though, and we promise that our recap of last night's battle is coming TOMORROW MORNING on the site! Thanks for your understanding, and I'll be back home on Monday, in time for week #3! Now, here's the rest of this weekend's (non-short notice) concert previews, but first, here's some LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS for next week!

Local classic/hard rock quartet Havadder will play a special St. Patrick's Day concert on Tuesday at The Rednecks Saloon! Their first announced concert in over a month, Havadder are sure to provide some solid heavier covers for patrons at the former Nicolet Tavern for this rare mid-week performance, but as the Facebook event page says, if you're going to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, do it on that day! No word on if green beer will be on sale, or if we'll see any leprechauns. You can have at 'er with Havadder on Tuesday night at 10:00 PM, there's no announced cover charge, and you must be 19 to attend. For more details, visit the above links! It's great to see Havadder back to rock The Rednecks Saloon on Tuesday, especially given the seasonal timing, so stay tuned for potential updates as they roll in, and if you have plans on St. Patrick's Day, here's an option!

Also in new confirmations, local Celtic/punk quartet Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide and alternative/grunge trio The Pixo Control will be among the supporting acts when Rising Tide members Sheldon & Marshall Jaaskelainen's roots duo The Boot Hill Crooners headline their CD release party at LopLops Lounge next Friday, March 20th! Though announced for the past month+ via Tidal Records pages, it's only making the site now due to the new confirmation of punk & alternative openers on the Facebook event page. It's great to see Sheldon & Marshall finally release their long awaited album, and fans of the Crooners should be excited for this event, so be sure to check out their pages for more info on it! The openers (all from Tidal Records) will include the aforementioned Rising Tide (fresh off of their upcoming short Ontario tour run, best of luck to them on the road!), roots band Frank Deresti & The Lake Effect, and folk solo artist Shannon Moan.

As for The Pixo Control, this will be their first non-Superior Heights gig since their VM Radio Battle guest set, but it will be an acoustic set like at Low 'N Slow. Nice change of pace again, so be there early next Friday! Also, remember that Dustin & The Tide will have a busy weekend, as they'll also be headlining at Searchmont next Saturday. The CD release show will have a $10 cover, a 19+ age limit, and a likely 9:00 PM start time. For more details, visit the above links! Sounds like this will be a great concert for Tidal Records fans, with folk, roots, punk, and alternative rock all coming together in one quality package, so keep it in mind for next weekend!

We'll close this post with the remainder of this weekend's known hard rock concert previews, both in the Sault Michigan area, and we'll start at The Rapids Lounge at the Sault Michigan Kewadin Casino, where Traverse City metal trio Scarkazm will take the stage TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! Continuing members Adam Crawford & Jeff Hudson's frequent recent appearances in the Eastern Upper Peninsula (including Peril's local stops last week), these will be Scarkazm's first announced shows since rocking the St. Ignace Kewadin two weeks ago, and first in Sault Ste. Marie in a month & a half. Scarkazm's metal covers & originals have attained a solid following in the Sault area since beginning appearances up here, and hopefully there's another strong turnout tomorrow & Saturday night! Like usual, there are 9:00 PM start times in effect, no announced cover charges, and a 21+ age limit. For details, visit the above links, and here's Scarkazm live last year!

Finally, we'll head south to The Northern Pines Lounge at the St. Ignace Kewadin Casino, where new Sault Michigan hard rock quartet Ten Kings will make their third & fourth live concert appearances TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! After a successful live debut at the Sault Kewadin last month, this new band featuring Nixxon Dixxon, Scofflaw, Exiled, and Bottom Line alumni are promising the debut of new songs (including hair metal covers) for this weekend, and if their past bands are any indication, they should deliver a fun night of heavy rock both tomorrow & Saturday! For reference sake, Kewadin's entertainment page still lists The London Gentlemen (featuring Ten Kings singer Brandon Carr's former Nixxon Dixxon bandmates Kyle Beaumont & Jake Lalonde) for this weekend in St. Ignace, but that band has not acknowledged any shows this weekend on their Facebook page, so Kewadin's listings just haven't been updated.

This weekend's shows have 21+ age limits, no announced cover charges, and 9:00 PM start times. For more details, visit the above links, and in lieu of a live video of theirs (though photos from their first shows are now up on their Facebook page), here's Ten Kings' promo video!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for our full recap of last night's VM Radio Battle of the Bands semifinal NEXT! Thanks everyone!
