LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (Lucky 13 & Tym Morrison) And Weekend Concert Previews!!

On this Friday morning, let's tackle this first concert weekend of December with a look at this weekend's concert previews, including SHORT NOTICE LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS! I do want to note that local post-punk quartet Gnaeus had previously been advertised to perform at TONIGHT'S Ancil Dedier benefit concert at The Indian Friendship Center at 122 East Street (alongside a lineup of rappers & DJs), but they're not listed on the most recent lineup for the performers. If that's an oversight and they are indeed still playing, we will plug it on here if possible, but best of luck to all involved in the benefit, Ancil was lost way too soon! Now, let's kick off our local concert previews for this weekend!

Local hard rock solo singer/guitarist Tym Morrison will be back on stage for the month of December at Gliss Steak & Seafood, including shows yesterday, TONIGHT, and TOMORROW! As usual, we waited for confirmation via the official Facebook event page before listing December dates here, and apologies for the short notice on this weekend's shows as a result (and for missing yesterday's for a plug on here, I completely forgot about Tym's Thursday nighter until just now.) Joining new Gliss shows thrice a week on December 10th-12th, 17th-19th, 24th-26th, and the 31st plus January 1st & 2nd, it's good to see Tym continuing his successful run at the Quality Inn's restaurant, so keep these shows in mind, including those TONIGHT & TOMORROW, and apologies again for missing yesterday's! Now, if you were wondering about his regular weekly shows at The Harp Bar & Grill, it's looking like his almost 2 year run at the former Madison's Pub may have came to an end. No Harp shows are listed on his website's calendar anymore (not even past ones), and SooToday's entertainment page doesn't list Harp gigs either.

For what it's worth, Tym posted a Facebook event page for this weekend's Harp shows, but quietly deleted it last night (he also deleted last week's Harp event page at the time, indicating that they may have been called off too.) I haven't seen any public confirmation on if his run at The Harp is over, but if this is it, hopefully things were amicable, and we'll let you know if he has any new nighttime gigs in the works! You can still take in his acoustic hard rock hits over the next three evenings at Gliss (including TONIGHT) at 6:00 PM, there's no cover, and given that this is a restaurant, there's likely no age limit. Check the above links for more details, and here's Tym live!

Next up, local classic/hard rock cover quartet Lucky 13 will return to the stage for one night only TONIGHT at The Rockstar Bar! Again, apologies for the short notice, the band only announced the show via it's Facebook event page on Tuesday. A one nighter due to the show that we're previewing to cap off this post, this will be Lucky 13's first concert since headlining at The Rockstar Bar almost two months ago, so if you've missed Ed, Jeremey, Jeff, and Roger in recent weeks (including at Toystock IV, the first one they haven't played), be at The Rockstar Bar TONIGHT for their aggressive but wide ranging blend of cover favourites! Like usual for Lucky 13, tonight's show (the latest stop of their "world tour") has a 10:30 PM start time, no announced cover charge (but bring cash just in case), and a 19+ age limit. For more details, visit the above links, and here's Lucky 13 at The Canadian!

Moving to previously announced concerts, let's head across the border to St. Ignace, Michigan, where Sault Michigan classic/hard rock quartet Highway 63 are advertised to return to The Northern Pines Lounge at the St. Ignace Kewadin Casino TONIGHT & TOMORROW NIGHT! Though not recently acknowledged on their Facebook page, the shows are confirmed on Kewadin's entertainment page. Last seen at the Sault's Kewadin branch two weeks ago, this will surprisingly be Highway 63's first concert weekend in St. Ignace in over three months, which seems like too long! Unless there's a surprise gig in the works, these will likely be your last chances to see the Switzers and company on stage in 2015, so keep their hard hitting classics in mind for your weekend plans if you're in the E.U.P.! There's no announced cover charges this weekend, you must be 21 or older to attend, and there's no cover charges. For more details, visit the above links, and here's Highway 63 live at The Northern Pines Lounge last year!

Finally for today, let's head back north to Sault Ontario for the previously hinted concert at The Rockstar Bar TOMORROW NIGHT, as local classic metal quintet Project 421 will mark their two year anniversary with a headlining concert! Though their debut show was actually at The Algonquin Pub downstairs, the guys have definitely stood up well since their launch to become a favourite live act, and hopefully there's a great turnout for their heavy trip back to 1980s metal on Saturday! They'll be on at 12:30 AM, with local funk/hard rock quartet The Elements taking the stage as openers at 11:30 PM, so don't miss their entertaining hybrid sound either! The still-mysterious local nu-metal/hard rock project Eclipse (who may or may not have debuted at the Jason Michaud benefit) will open the proceedings at 10:30 PM, but aside from indications of covering everyone from Billy Talent to System of a Down, we know nothing public on them or their members. In case nothing comes out before showtime, be at The Rockstar Bar on Saturday to find out!

It's worth noting that their mysterious debut mirrors that of Project 421's, who similarly didn't announce their identity or post any online materials before their 2013 debut, but do the bands have a common link beyond that? A $5 cover charge is in effect for this 19+ concert, and for more details, visit the official Facebook event page! This should be an entertaining concert with a little something for everyone, from established favourites to the reveal of Eclipse, so keep it in mind for tomorrow night, and here's Project 421 live!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for a new news post tomorrow, perhaps tonight if there's more late notice concerts! Thanks everyone!
