Local Concert Preview, and Do You Wanna Play At Rotaryfest?

Hows it going, fellow metalheads? I got some news to share with y'all, but first, we have a concert tomorrow night! So, as is becoming custom around here, this is your local concert preview!

Tomorrow night at The Lock City Grand Theater, death metal will take over Sault Ste. Marie! San Diego's own Carnifex will make their debut in the Sault area for a night of death metal mayhem (Then again, a band whose name is derived from the Olde English word for "executioner" must be pretty heavy!) Signed to Victory Records, they're currently in Canada on the Northern Slay
Ride Tour, and it's great to have them around these parts! Of course, you can head on over to their official MySpace page to check out some of their originals from their newest album "The Diseased and The Poisoned"!

Don't wanna go to their MySpace? Well, no need to worry! Here's the music video for their song "Lie To My Face"!

But that's not all! Supporting bands will include Montreal's Blind Witness, making their return to Sault Ste. Marie at this show! They're currently short a member, but should put on a good show regardless! The Last Felony, another Montreal-based death metal band, will also be playing tomorrow night! Both bands are very talented, check them out by clicking on their names, which will take you to their official MySpace pages! And finally, as you probably expected, Sudbury death metal powerhouses Upheaval of an Exorcist will open this concert! (Remember to catch them with Cattle Decapitation and The Fitzpatrick Incident this spring!)

Tickets for this concert will be $15 in advance, and $20 at the door! The doors open at 7:00 PM, and yes, this show is ALL AGES! I dunno if I'm going, but if anyone out there is, we'd love to hear from you! In the meantime, go check out the Facebook event page and the SooToday event listing!

Following tonight, your next local concerts are this weekend, when both Peril and Shift will play separate weekend dates in Sault Michigan! As for Sault Ontario, your next show is next Friday, when bands like Dirty Virgin, Sue Inside, Operation: Killdozer, and Undead Warriors will compete in a Battle of the Bands at The Lock City Grand Theater! Stay tuned for continued news and updates on these and other local concerts!

Next up, I have a question: Do you want to play on this year's RotaryFest Second Stage? Well, you have a chance to apply! If you're interested in submitting an application to play at this year's Rotaryfest, head on over to this link and fill out all of the forms! If you wish to include any material objects, like CDs, tapes, photos, press clippings, or paper documents, mail them to Second Stage Selection Committee c/o The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, 364 Queen Street East, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A 1Z1. Keep in mind that if you submit anything by mail, you won't get it back.

The deadline to apply is April 3rd, so if you want to try and get on this year's Rotaryfest, get your application out A.S.A.P.! If you have any questions, e-mail Scott Kennedy at subwavesault@hotmail.com. For full details on application, head on over to SooToday or the official RotaryFest Second Stage website! And if you think metal isn't gonna fly at RotaryFest, keep in mind, Gates of Winter have played the Second Stage in the past (they're even in the slideshow on the front page of the Second Stage site), and Stillbroke played on there just last year, among others

That's all for now, but there will be more to come very soon, trust me!
