Well, I'm home from Detroit now, and my deepest apologies for the lack of posts since Thursday! But now that I'm home, with little priorities to keep me away, regular posts are back! And now, let us begin, for I have a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT!!!
Sault Michigan hard rockers Clownsack are finally back for a local show! On July 11th, they will be the musical performers at the King of the Cage event at Kewadin Casino! Unlike most stuff at Kewadin, however, this will be an outdoor event, so Clownsack will be in familiar territory, having also been outdoors at Kewadin when they backed up Kiss in 2007!
Now, if you're hoping to see Clownsack, you'll have to get ready for an evening of MMA action as well, and knowing a lot of you guys, you wouldn't be opposed to that! The only problem: Tickets are SOLD OUT. No sites list them for sale, which leads me to believe that fight fans have snapped up all the tickets. Well, if anyone out there has one, you'll be getting some Clownsack too! And when I hear more on all of this, you'll hear it here!
While we're on the subject of Clownsack, they've also scheduled a concert for next month in Marquette! They will take part in this year's Pigfest on June 20th at 8:00 PM! Finally, their upcoming concert with Bobaflex on May 23rd will be taking place at Birch Point Golf Course in St. Helen's, just in case you noticed I hadn't listed a venue for it! Best of luck to Clownsack on both of these out of town shows!
Next, some updates on the Kiss voting! We're still in third, but don't you worry guys, there's little chance as of today that we're gonna drop any lower. As of 6:15 PM Monday, we had 9,675 votes, well over 3,700 ahead of fourth place Kingston. As well, Oshawa are now leading in the voting, they passed Winnipeg yesterday. You guys think we can crawl up to second? Or at least to 10,000 votes? Who knows, but keep the votes coming in! The more we get, the better chance we have of Kiss coming to The Essar Center! Remember to click the Kiss widget at the the top right of the page to demand Kiss! VOTE TODAY!!! And for continuing coverage from SooToday, visit this link and this other link!
Now, I'll just clear up some uncertainties I've heard from some people about an upcoming concert, because honestly, I've had them too. I reported a while back that Who Made Who: The Ultimate Tribute to AC/DC would be playing at The Canadian on Friday night. However, since then, I've heard nothing else about this show. Their official site and their Facebook page don't have updated tour dates, The Canadian doesn't have a website for us to check on, and there's no Facebook event page either. All I have for proof is the ad in Sault This Week in the Hot Spots section, which you can view at this link (it's now in the Local Metal Links too!)
And as a result, some people have asked me why there's nothing around about it. I don't know the cover charge, age limits, starting times, or any possible opening bands. But, in all honesty, if the money was put out for an ad in Sault This Week, it can't be a fake or recently cancelled show. I just don't know why it's so hard to find stuff out about it. So, I'm not removing it from the listings, there must be a shred of truth to this show, and hopefully I can find something out. If you know anything about this show, e-mail me at robfigures@hotmail.com! I wanna go too, and would love any info I can get!
Finally, some notes about the site's look. One, you may have noticed the lack of a background. Honestly, I don't know why it's not showing up. The normal blue background isn't horrible, but I liked the barbed wire one I had. Keep in mind, the HTML was NOT edited. If I can find a way to fix it, I'll let you all know. Also, notice I changed the favicon? (a.k.a. the tiny image beside the address bar) It used to be the SMS logo, but it didn't work well with such a tiny image, so now it's just the letter S in Metallica font over red and black. Simple, effective, and easy to pick out, right?!
I'll have more news later tonight or tomorrow, I promise, no more long waits like that for new posts, I promise! Stay tuned for more local metal news, updates, previews, and reviews!!!
