YMCA Battle Of The Bands Updates!!!

Bonjour! Hope you guys are having a good weekend so far! I got some updates on an upcoming concert...no, make that a LOT of updates!

Remember on January 28th when I mentioned that the YMCA was putting on a rock opera/battle of the bands on March 20th? Well, they've updated a lot of the details for it, finally!

There was lots of demand from interested bands, so luckily, the biggest update of all is now, there will be...EIGHT slots for bands to play! Each band will play for 20 minutes, with the first band playing at 7:35-ish, the last band playing around 10:35, followed by awards for Best Originals, Best Stage Presence, and Best Overall Band!

As well, they are preferring original songs, which leads me to believe that the more originals a band has, the better chance they'll have of winning. Also, a drum kit will be provided to speed up set-up time, which is a nice idea! Keep in mind that this will be preceded by the rock opera "Nothing To Do In Sault Ste. Marie", and it will all take place on March 20th at The Lock City Grand Theater! Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to YMCA Strong Kids! And yes, it is ALL AGES!

Now, since this show was posted on Facebook, there's been some huge demand from local bands, including a bunch of local metal groups! That being said, Bradley Griffith (who is putting on this rock opera/battle) is requesting that if you are interested in being in the Battle of the Bands, you must:

Send an e-mail to bradleygriffith@hotmail.com with GRAND BOTB in the subject heading, and specify your band name, members' names, genre, microphone requirements, and general contact info! There are only 8 spots available, so the YMCA Rocks Committee will pick the 8 bands from all interested parties. The deadline to submit your entry is...FRIDAY, so if you want in, e-mail Bradley A.S.A.P.!

And for all the info you need on this show, head over to the Facebook event page! Thanks guys, I'll check back here tomorrow! And if you went to see Absolute, Jager, or Shift this weekend, feel free to let me know!
