Local Metal/Hard Rock Concert Previews For This Weekend!!

As promised, I have a new post today, and the top story this evening are previews of this weekend's local metal concerts! This weekend's concerts (that I'm aware of) include a pair in Sault Michigan and four in Sault Ontario, including a nice cross section of genres and styles to check out! So here are your local concert previews for this weekend! And remember, the Caveman Morrison show originally scheduled for tomorrow night has been postponed one week, more info in yesterday's post. (EDITED: Friday, 12:54 PM)

We'll start in Sault Michigan, as a local hard rock trio return to one of their more frequent venues, as Monkey's Uncle hit the stage this weekend! The band formerly known as Jager will bring their classic hard rock style to The Rapids Lounge at Kewadin Casino tomorrow night and Saturday night in their first weekend sets there since August! I imagine they likely had a show last month somewhere in the area, but without a concert listing currently on their page, I can't verify any possible shows elsewhere. These shows were confirmed on Kewadin Casino's entertainment page, and will have a start time of around 9:00 PM and no cover charge. As is the usual case with Sault Michigan bar shows, you must be 21 to enter. These should be fun shows, as Monkey's Uncle deliver a catchy hard driving sound that will be sure to get fans grooving and rocking out! They have originals and covers in store, and should put on some great performances!

For more information on both shows, and to check out originals and live covers from Monkey's Uncle, check out the above links! And for a video preview, here's a clip of Monkey's Uncle covering Jet's "Cold Hard Bitch" from a 2008 concert! And if you miss them this weekend, don't worry, they'll be back at Kewadin in two weeks!

Now we'll head back to Sault Ontario for the remaining four shows that I know of, and we'll begin at The Nicolet Tavern, as local classic hard rockers Turner Up continue their "Grind Your Mind" tour with two stops there this weekend! As usual, the shows are at 10:00 PM tomorrow night and Saturday night, with no announced cover and a 19+ age limit. Curiously, there's no Facebook event pages to hype these shows like is usually the case, but band members have still referred to these shows on their personal Facebook pages, and they're still listed on their Facebook group, so it looks like they're still on. Of course, if I hear different, I'll let you all know! These should be fun shows once again, as Turner Up have a nice classic sound that will surely get some love from the fans this weekend! For more information, check all of the above links, and for a video preview, click here to see the current lineup covering a Gavin DeGraw song! Don't worry, they have heavier stuff!

Finally for concerts this weekend is one that marks a long awaited return for a local hard rock band! Local hard rock trio Browbeat, in their first shows since January's Social Play concert, and their first under the Browbeat name since 2008, will hit Foggy Notions for two shows this weekend! These also mark the debut of their new lineup, featuring longtime frontman Dutch Vanderploeg, Disciples of Rock bassist James White, and his brother Rick (of Frightlight and Fitswitch fame) on drums! Great to see Browbeat back in the full swing of things, I know Dutch has put in tons of work to get the band back up and running again, and hopefully this lineup pays off! Check the above links to hear some Browbeat originals, soon to be re-recorded with the White brothers in place! Both of these shows will be at Foggy Notions tomorrow night and Saturday night, and will likely feature $3 cover charges, 10:00 PM start times, and a 19+ age limit. My sources for these shows are individual member Facebook pages.

I really hope to be at Foggy's this weekend to see this, as I've been waiting to see Browbeat on stage for months! I'll likely be there Saturday, but we'll have to see! And yes, I'll have a review, photos, and videos afterwards! Check all of the above links for more, and by request from Dutch, I won't embed any Browbeat videos here, as I think he wants people to focus on the current lineup first and foremost.

(EDIT: My original information concerning WinkStinger headlining at Foggy's this weekend was incorrect. I went by info from Browbeat members for my source about a second band this weekend, and I misread plugs on WinkStinger's Facebook page to confirm it. They do have shows in the works, but not this weekend. Browbeat are now the ONLY band playing at Foggy's this weekend. I give my apologies to everyone for the confusion, and I'll have more news on WinkStinger's actual live debut this weekend!)

That's all for today, but stay tuned hopefully tomorrow or Saturday for a new news post, where we'll get to some backlogged and new stories that will hopefully pique your interest! Thanks everyone, and I'll see you this weekend at Foggy's!
