LOCAL CONCERT ALERT (The Wyld Stallyns) & More Weekend Concert Previews!!

(Edited at 4:17 PM) As promised, we're wrapping up this weekend's concert previews today, but leading off the proceedings, we do have a SHORT NOTICE LOCAL CONCERT ALERT for TONIGHT! The Tripod The Dog show in two weeks that originally led off this post will instead topline tomorrow's post, so we can keep this post the same length and not miss the newly announced concert. Now, here;s what you should know!

Local acoustic hard rock band The Wyld Stallyns will return to The Water Tower Pub for one night only TONIGHT! I profusely apologize for the short notice, this concert was only announced on the venue's Facebook page this afternoon, and the band proper have not promoted it on their Facebook page. In fact, The Wyld Stallyns also played at the Great Northern Road nightclub on March 26th, following the Pub's re-opening from their most recent pandemic closure in February, but again, that show was only plugged the day of the show by the venue on Facebook without the band mentioning it. I apologize again, I'd have covered that one on here had it had better notice! This will be The Stallyns first show since playing at The Whisky Barrel two weeks ago, and hopefully everything goes smooth with the Speers', Jesse, and Jonas' hard rocking cover selection TONIGHT despite the ultra late notice!

TONIGHT's show has an 8:00 PM start time, no cover charge, and a 19+ age limit. Visit the above links for more details, and for a preview, here's a new video of The Wyld Stallyns at The Whisky Barrel on St. Patrick's Day! Filmed by attendee Steven Hewgill (Tommy himself) and shared publically by the band on the Algoma Musicians Facebook group, this see them cover The Beatles' "Revolution" with guitarist Rob Speers on lead vocals, and it's a nice laid back cover that goes over well with the packed house! Steven does pan to show the audience, but alas, he filmed in the vertical angle, and from where he was, Jonas is almost completely obscured. Give it a watch below, and don't miss The Stallyns TONIGHT!

Next up, let's dive into the remaining previews hard rock concert with advance notice, starting with a trip to Michigan where Marquette hard rock duo Fyrbird will topline concerts at The Northern Pines Lounge at the St. Ignace Kewadin Casino TONIGHT & TOMORROW NIGHT! These will be Jamie & Rikk's first St. Ignace stops of 2022, but fans in the Soo will have seen them at The Rapids Lounge in January. Fyrbird get quite a heavy, in your face, and engaging sound out of their two man setup, and hopefully they draw another solid audience for both nights of their return to St. Ignace this weekend! If you miss out, however, Fyrbird will be back at both regional Kewadin lounges for three more weekends in the second half of 2022, including in St. Ignace in July. Tonight & tomorrow's shows are 9:00 PM affairs with no cover charge and 21+ age limits. See above for more details, and here's Fyrbird live!

Let's head back to Sault Ontario to round out this weekend's hard rock concert previews, as local classic/hard rock cover quartet Obsession are returning to Shooters Downstairs Lounge on Dennis Street for one night only TOMORROW NIGHT! This will be Obsession's first appearance at this venue since Shooters took a dive head-first into live music bookings in March, so it will be interesting to see how Valerie, Gabe, Jim, and Steve do at a new venue for them! Of course, Obsession's well tested brand of fan favourite classic and hard rock covers will appeal to a wide audience, so don't bypass them for some quality entertainment tomorrow! If you miss out, don't worry, as Obsession will be back at The Esquire Club for their Saturday matinee series in two weeks. Tomorrow's show has an 8:00 PM start time, 19+ age limit, and no cover charge, so visit the official Facebook event page for more details, and here's Obsession live!

Finally for this weekend's previews, let's head to Soo Blaster, where local southern hard rock quintet Fort Creek will headline a special concert TOMORROW NIGHT! While much of their recent Facebook page updates have been related to a charity guitar raffle, tomorrow's concert is shaping up to be a big one, as it see the live debut of the first single from Fort Creek's long-teased debut EP, still planned for release this summer. No full songs have been posted online yet, so if you want the first shot to hear it for yourself, come out to Soo Blaster tomorrow! As usual for their live gigs, there will be merchandise giveaways for attendees. You can enjoy Fort Creek's southern-fried hard rock covers tomorrow night at 8:00 PM, this is a 19+ event, and advance tickets are available for $5 at Soo Blaster, Trio Auto Supply at 20 Second Line East or at the phone number on the poster. Admission at the door jumps to $7. Visit the above links for more details, and here's Fort Creek live last year!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more news and notes on the site tomorrow! Thanks everyone!
