Today's post gives us a split of LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (plus a missed show apology and one last weekend concert preview) on both sides of the border, so here's what you should know for weeks ahead, starting in Sault Ontario!
Local classic/hard rock cover quartet Quite Frankly have announced their return to Gateway Casino on Saturday, August 15th, five weeks after TONIGHT'S previously announced show at Beck's Bar! The band first announced next month's casino gig via this concert calendar image on their Facebook page
on Tuesday, which also reminds fans about their Rotaryfest debut next
week. The newly confirmed Gateway Casino stop will be Quite Frankly's
first since March, and hopefully Linsaey, Frank, Harley, and Joe have a
strong turnout for their proficient and fun classic and hard rock covers
then! Of course, they'll be in the west end tonight for more of the
same at Beck's, so if this interests you for live music, you know where
to be! Both shows are 19+ with no cover, but tonight's Beck's concert is
at 9:00 PM, and the Gateway Casino show starts at 8:00 PM. Good
to see summer gigs ticking upwards a bit for Quite Frankly, and
hopefully tonight's Beck's show is a good warm-up for Rotarfyest!
Visit the above links for more details on shows new and old alike, and for a preview, here's Quite Frankly live at Beck's Bar late last year!
Next up, and going along with their sister band BookcluB's summer schedule release from last week, local acoustic punk cover duo Dos Amigos released their own schedule via this Instagram-only poster at the same time! Not sure why either band is so quiet on social media, and even moreso on Facebook. We already covered their Whisky Barrel show last week, and we already know about their Downtown Street Party gig next Thursday, but the second show on the poster actually took place yesterday, as Dustin & Mikey returned to The Tap Room at Northern Superior Brewing Co., and I profusely apologize for missing that show on here. Between my own personal schedule and how this week's posts were laid out, yesterday's Tap Room gig completely fell through the cracks, not helped by Northern Superior not corroborating it on social media, but I hope the concert was a hit for Dos Amigos and fans alike! Their other two shows are late next month at the aforementioned nightclubs, starting with a Tap Room encore on Friday, August 21st.
Meanwhile, they'll set up shop at The Whiskey Barrel one week later on Friday, August 28th, so if you're up for some unplugged punk classics from half of The Inner City Surfers, you know where to be! These shows (and yesterday's Tap Room gig, apologies again) are at 8:00 PM with 19+ age limits and no announced cover charge. Visit the above links for more details, and stay tuned for more on the return of Northern Superior's second annual Wolf Fest (reportedly featuring BookcluB) in the near future!
Now, here's the last of the new hard rock concert announcements from Kewadin Casino's entertainment page for the summer, starting with Sault Michigan classic/hard rock cover quartet Tarnished, who will set up shop at The Rapids Lounge at the Sault Ste. Marie branch for concerts on Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th before returning on August 21st & 22nd! The band has yet to confirm these dates on their own social media (they rarely give notice before the week of anymore), but this month's shows will be Alex, Josh, Chris, and Ron's first at the Soo Kewadin since their late fill-in gig(s?) in early May. Good to see this talented and hard rocking quartet adding to their decent clip of live concerts for the back half of the summer, so keep both weekends in mind! These are all 21+ events at 9:00 PM with no cover charge. Visit the above links for more details on these gigs!
Finally, fellow local hard rock cover quartet The Nameless will return to the aforementioned Rapids Lounge at the Sault Ste. Marie branch on Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th! I actually kinda mentioned these on the SMS already, but in my write-up of their summer concert schedule from this June 17th post alluded to the gigs without dating them. My bad, so let's remedy that! At the same time, while "The Nameless Band" are making their Rapids Lounge debuts on this weekend, it turns out that their Hell To Paradise motorcycle rally gig at the Soo Kewadin Casino in two weeks is not at The Rapids Lounge (as note above, Tarnished are playing that weekend). Based on what I've gathered from the rally's Facebook group, the ending banquet, speakers, and concert will be held at a conference room on site at 7:00 PM, so if you want to keep the party going afterwards, head to The Rapids Lounge for to check out Tarnished!
The two Rapids Lounge shows at the end of August are at 9:00 PM, all three are 21+, and you do not have to buy dinner to see The Nameless at the Hell To Paradise finale, so I believe there's no cover, but donations are accepted given the mental health fundraiser nature of that event. Good to finally clarify the full extent of The Nameless' summer calendar, so visit the above links for more details, and don't miss them at the Hell To Paradise banquet in two weeks! That's all for now, but stay tuned for more news and notes on a very busy week for the SMS ahead! Thanks everyone!
