LOCAL CONCERT ALERT!!!, Carnifex, and Bryan Adams?!??

So, how about the weather out there? Winter's not done yet, that's for sure! Well, let's get right to it, for I have a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT!!!

Remember a few days ago when I said that there might be a concert to report on in the near future with local hard rockers Stillbroke? Well, guess what? We have one! On April 1st, Stillbroke will return to the local concert scene for a big show at The Verdi Hall! (Yeah, it's typically for weddings, but it's a nice venue, so it should work good for this show!) At this show, Stillbroke will play songs from their upcoming studio album! Aside from the concert, there will also be prize raffles, a cash bar, and merchandise for sale!

Tickets are $10, and will go on sale on Friday! Starting on that date, tickets can be purchased by calling The Frigault family household at 759-8696! If tickets aren't sold out, they will also be sold at the door on the night of the concert! For even more info, and to confirm your attendance, head on over to this show's official Facebook event page!

It's great to see Stillbroke back with some shows and big plans, and hopefully they can continue to get bigger and bigger! I know from seeing them live last year from shows like the Rock 2 Roll fundraiser and the Helix concert, that they put on a great show, and this should be no different! And, I have placed the official website for The Verdi Hall in the "Other Local Metal Links" section! Now let's see if they'll get some more metal in the coming months!

Next up, just wanted to let you guys know what happened with the Carnifex concert tonight, in regards to the poor weather. I guess the concert was in jeopardy of being cancelled cause of the highway roadblocks out near the turn-off to St. Joseph Island, which could have prevented the bands from arriving here in time. Luckily, things did improve and Carnifex, The Last Felony, and Upheaval of an Exorcist did make it for the show, which went on as scheduled!

Now, you may have noticed that I didn't mention Blind Witness. Well, apparently, the band or some of the members got into a car accident, and as a result, couldn't make the trek up here. That just sucks, hopefully the band itself are OK! Now, as for the concert itself, if I hear anything, I'll post it here! And if you were there, and have anything to share, feel free to post it here, on Facebook, or e-mail me at robfigures@hotmail.com! And, even though I didn't directly speak to any of them, a big thanks to everyone who was commenting on this concert's Facebook event page, so I could get info on the show's status!

Next up, if you went to the Bryan Adams concert at The Essar Centre Monday night (...what, some of you might have!), you would have seen a familiar face up on stage! During one part in the show, Adams called out to an audience member to help sing a song with him, and it turned out to be Bad Side frontwoman Melissa Krahnke! However, she couldn't remember the words to the song, and ended up being replaced by another fan. Disappointing, but I can imagine being very nervous and awestruck like that, so I don't blame her! Check out full info from the concert at SooToday!

Also, did you know Melissa's actually a DJ on 99.5 Yes FM? I only learned that the other day, shows how how little I change the radio from Rock 101. Either way, that's awesome in itself! And of course, Bad Side are a great local metal band, so I recommend you go check them out on their official MySpace page!

More to come tomorrow, I've got some local concert previews in store, and hopefully some more news, so keep on a lookout!
