LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS (The 3 Day Millionaires, Project 906, And Tym Morrison), And Weekend Concert Previews!!

The first proper concert weekend of August 2017 is here, so here's our next round of weekend concert previews! Well, most of them, as we'll instead feature this weekend's Highway 63 concerts in St. Ignace in a post either tonight or tomorrow, so we can spread out our previews and not overstuff this post. Now, let's kick things off with LOCAL CONCERT ALERTS, including a bunch on SHORT NOTICE!

We have added another month's worth of acoustic hard rock solo concerts from Tym Morrison to our concert listings! Joining his Mark's Breakfast Plus debuts earlier this week (covered early due to their timing), Tym will return to Gliss Steak & Seafood for matinee gigs TONIGHT, TOMORROW, and SATURDAY, and then on August 10th-12th, 17th-19th, 24th-26th, and 31st, with September 1st & 2nd gigs likely to round out that weekend, and one more return to The Barrelhouse Wine & Whiskey also now announced for a nighttime stop THIS SATURDAY NIGHT! Apologies for the short notice on this weekend's four concerts, all were announced via their respective Facebook event pages on Sunday. Tym's busy slate of unplugged gigs is showing no signs of slowing down, so whether you want some downtown evening entertainment or later acoustic action, you have options this weekend, and much more of the former as August rolls along!

FYI, we are listing Tym's September 1st & 2nd Gliss gigs early because they're the same weekend as his August 31st show, and we'll touch on the rest of September separately next month. The Gliss shows TONIGHT, TOMORROW, SATURDAY, and beyond are at 6:00 PM with no announced cover charges or age limits, while SATURDAY NIGHT's Barrelhouse show (his first there in two weeks) is a 19+ event at 10:30 PM with no cover. Get more details at the Facebook event pages linked here & here, and here's Tym live!

Next up, local classic/hard rock cover quartet The 3 Day Millionaires will return to Reggie's West for two more headlining concerts TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! Again, apologies for the short notice, the shows were only announced via their official Facebook event page yesterday. It appears that The Millionaires' gigs at the former Rosie went well last week, as they're back for their third weekend of shows there over the next two days, and their classic and hard rocking setlist choices should again find an audience at this west end venue, so keep these ones in mind for TOMORROW & SATURDAY! Note as well that frontman Steve Dowding will play a rare solo matinee set tomorrow before their set at 4:00 PM, but given the 90 minutes between his last and the band's first sets, I hesitate to say he's "opening" for them. Hopefully he delivers a fun solo performance, so keep that in mind!

Like with The 3 Day Millionaires' prior Reggievelt stops, these are 9:30 PM shows with no announced cover charge and a 19+ age limit. Check the above links for more details, and here they are live last year!

Lastly for new announcements, we'll head down to Sault Michigan for a Moloney's Alley concert from local hard rock quartet Project 906 TOMORROW NIGHT! Profuse apologies for the short notice, this show was actually announced via it's official Facebook event page last Wednesday, and while we had put it in our concert listings then, we couldn't fit it into a post before it got too soon to cover it without a redundant re-posting. This will be Project 906's second public concert at the West Portage Avenue venue, after playing there two weeks ago, and they should have another solid night of hard rocking covers in store for fans TOMORROW, so don't bypass this one! As well, Project 906 will return to The Back Bay Grill & Games at Bay Mills Resort & Casino in nearby Brimley for a show on Saturday, August 26th, as also announced last week via it's own Facebook event page. That show will be Project 906's first there this year, so keep their return to the popular area casino's waterfront bar in mind for three weeks from now for some hard rocking cover action!

TOMORROW'S Moloney's Alley show (indoors or outdoors) will be a 9:00 event, while the Back Bay Grill show is at 10:30 PM. Each are 21+ events, and neither has an announced cover charge. Check the above links for more details, apologies again for the late announcement on TOMORROW'S show, and here's Project 906 live!

Finally for this weekend's previews, we'll head north to The Canadian Nightclub, where Sault Ontario classic/hard rock cover quartet Soundcheck will play rare headlining concerts TOMORROW & SATURDAY NIGHT! First announced two weeks ago (unusually early for this band), these will be Soundcheck's debut appearances at The Canadian, not counting predecessor band Mourning Wood's Toystock set there. This weekend's shows appear to be something of a trial run towards bringing back weekend cover bands to the Pim Street venue again (guitarist Terry Eaton implied as much in a post share on the Facebook event page), so if you want to see more cover rock action there in the coming weeks, don't miss out on Soundcheck's often heavy but varied covers tomorrow and/or Saturday night! These shows have NO COVER, are 19+ events, and will take place at 9:00 PM. See above for more details, and hopefully someone posts some public video of Soundcheck live at some point, as we still haven't found anything from their shows!

That's all for today, but stay tuned for our Highway 63 concert previews and more next! Thanks everyone!
