New Videos From Heavy Lies The Crown & Tym Morrison!!

Today's post is a two topic affair, as we have lengthy new video uploads from hard rock artists on both sides of the border to check out on this Friday evening! Here's what you should know to end another work week!

Former Caveman Morrison frontman Tym Morrison's 19th live-streamed concert took place on his YouTube channel last night, and after Tuesday's show ended after only 20 minutes due to technical difficulties, yesterday's live-stream makes up for it, albeit still running under his norm, as "Starting Soon" card aside, this one only runs for about 98 minutes total. The show begins about 7 minutes in, and thankfully, the video feed was running smoothly last night! Tym's set begins with a cover of Amanda Marshall's "Trust Me (This Is Love)", before Tym outlines the upgrades to his internet connection to (hopefully) ensure that the choppy video quality doesn't recur. Afterwards, Tym covers Chris De Burgh's "Lady In Red", Oasis' "Wonderwall", The Romantics' "Talking In Your Sleep", Yes' "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" & "Love Will Find A Way", The Eagles' "Hotel California", Guns N' Roses' "Patience", Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama", The Who's "Pinball Wizard", ...

...Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising", Kim Mitchell's "All We Are", and Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love", before a four song run where he bookended Bryan Adams' "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" with three different instrumental compositions, with the first one linked here & the two after the Bryan Adams cover linked here & here. Afterwards, we hear Phil Collins' "One More Night" & the beginning of Radiohead's "Karma Police", but the song only runs for a minute or so before the live-stream abruptly ends mid-song, much like his show on May 19th did. This rendition of "Karma Police" did sound a little off, but Tym did not give a reason for why this live-stream ended 20 minutes early that I've found. While the set lasted, Tym's performances were solid and reliable as ever, and the video quality was back to his usual standard, which is definitely welcomed! That said, the late instrumental stretch may not be to all viewers' tastes.

Also, we just heard the Kim Mitchell & Roxette covers on Tuesday, and while playing them again may be a make-up for that show's severely abbreviated run-time, this is Tym's fourth straight live-stream with "All We Are" in the setlist. Everything sounds good as usual though, so watch the whole live-streamed concert below, and look for more from Tym next week!

Next up, here's the latest from St. Ignace, Michigan progressive metal quintet Heavy Lies The Crown, who are getting back to more normal activity now that the state's stay-at-home order is lifted! Hopefully they are staying safe & sensible, of course. After a month without updating their Facebook page, frontman Brandon West shared this brief video where he shared a clip from their studio recordings where his voice seems to give out. Amusing while it lasts, and a good sign that they were back at work! After another jokey video where Brandon appears to cook Twizzlers in the oven(?!), the guys shared a 72 seconds-long video on May 29th of their first rehearsal session in months, and first with their new wireless in-ear monitor setup, meaning that you can't actually hear the song being performed aside from Brandon's vocals & the tapping of the instruments. In this respect, they're less liable for noise complaints, but it also shrouds their new songs in added mystery.

The video caption notes that they "can't wait to finish this album, which is basically finished, (and it) just needs some touch-ups", and the guys are already eager to write new material once the album's released. Good to hear, hopefully things are as truly on-track as they're promising! Embedded below is their newest video from last night, and like a bunch of their earlier uploads, this is an hour+ long video of the guys (minus drummer Cale Krist, who lives in the Lower Peninsula) working in studio on their forthcoming second album, with guitarist Nathan Switzer at the computer. You do get to see Brandon, guitarist Ted Olson, and bassist Danny Tucker tracking and performing at points as well, plus lots of loose and off-the-cuff banter for the duration. Some of the instrumental fragments sound very promising, but it's anyone's guess when full songs will turn up publically. This a fun look at Heavy Lies The Crown in action once again, so give it and more a watch above & below!
