For All That Is Lost Updates And Much More Assorted News & Notes!!

For our Friday morning post this week, we're mainly clearing out a bunch of stories from our news cache, so what's in store? Today, we have the last of our recent CD review updates, this week's classic video, and some more recent shorter news stories, but first, we have the latest news from a popular area death metal band, so here's what you need to know!

We'll start today with some For All That Is Lost news! While the local/Central Algoma death metal quartet are fast approaching their live return at The Locals Attack on the 26th, they've been updating online pages with new photos and postings recently, including their brand new Twitter account (follow it A.S.A.P., as they're using it actively), but among their biggest updates is the launch of their new official YouTube channel! Launched on Monday, it already features 8 videos, though all have been pulled from existing YouTube channels, 7 of which were from ours. I have no complaints with that at all, I'm glad to see the guys like them and wanna share them! However, the other video is one we've never featured here (despite it's age), and it's of F.A.T.I.L. playing their song "Ripped In Two"! Originally uploaded by YouTube user iou69er in August of last year, this appears to come from one of their outdoor sets at a member's home (this time bassist Ben Deslauriers'), and it's nice to see a video of a song we don't hear much of live from them! Good audio quality too, but the video's dark and somewhat fuzzy. Check it out below, and get more F.A.T.I.L. updates above!

Next up, here's three assorted shorter news stories from the last little while! As usual, these are in alphabetical order by band, artist, or website name:
  • Though local hardcore band As It Stands have largely been AWOL recently, drummer John Mignacca has been working on original electronic material & remixes recently under the name Johnny Dillinger, and among them is a remix of Papa Roach's "Still Swinging" for this contest through Indaba Music, where one collaboration/remix will net the winner $500, signed merchandise, and more! John's remix is an interesting electronic take on one of Papa Roach's better newer songs, so check the above links to share & comment, and best of luck!
  • In what might be their first posted video, recently reactivated industrial project Riverin uploaded this 21 second video onto their Facebook page which features what sounds like the beginning to a new original song. It's not a huge teaser yet, but if you like Riverin, it's gotta be intriguing if nothing else, so give it a look at the above links! As a Facebook video, I can't embed it here.
  • A new website named SSMOnline.ca has been launched as a portal for local events and event advertising, where local bookers and promoters can share and plug their upcoming events (musical or otherwise.) It's a work in progress, but this could serve a great purpose if it continues to take off, so check it out at the above link, and if you've got an event that needs adveritising, keep SSMOnline.ca in mind!

Also today, here's this week's classic video! With the surprise return of Late & Loud this Saturday, it made sense to upload a new video with members of this talented local classic metal quartet, and while I can't find too many non-YouTube videos of them nowadays, I found something close! Months before their public debut, most of Late & Loud's lineup (save for drummer Josh Hatherley) were the subject of a couple of acoustic jam videos in March 2010 that singer/guitarist Jonathan Tiberi posted onto Facebook, including a cover if Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" and the video we're uploading today, their cover of Witchcraft's "Chyld of Fire"! I believe this was an early live cover of Late & Loud's, and on this cover, their talent is present, but it'd be nice to see plugged in footage of this. However, Jon's singing actually fits better in an acoustic setting, and the video quality is pretty good, especially after fixing the lighting after posting it on YouTube! The original video can be seen at http://facebook.com/photo.php?v=1384442409429 and NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED!!!

All credit for this video goes to the guys from Late & Loud, I'm just trying to share this video with a deserving wider audience! It's a solid cover from the pre-L&L days, so give it a look below, and don't miss Late & Loud's CD release show (and possibly their last gig) on Saturday at The Rockstar Bar!

And finally for today, here's our last batch of recent updates to our monthly CD reviews! As before, these include photo restorations for most of them due to dead/expired links, including some reviews not updated otherwise. I updated our review of Clownsack's "Funny Farm" EP to note the band's inactivity and the album's current availability, along with some minor lineup notes, while I updated our review of Theatre of Night's "Christmas Night" album to reflect newer purchasing details, including it's posting on iTunes. I made similar edits to out review of their second album "The Dawn's Early Light", while also adding a note on their charitable donation of album proceeds to The Folds of Honour Foundation. That's all for our CD review updates, but hopefully I'll stay better on top of those in the future for keeping them updated with working photo links, so keep an eye out, and stay tuned for this month's CD review in the next few weeks!

That's probably all for today, but stay tuned tomorrow for this month's Defunct Local Band Profile on Amethyst, and I'll see you guys TOMORROW NIGHT for The Saigon Hookers and local openers at The Rockstar Bar! Thanks everyone!
