LOCAL CONCERT ALERT (Time), The Womb Cancellations, Local Radio Updates, And More!!!

Hey guys, it's time for another packed news post! I've been doing some searching for a few things I may have missed, and did a bit of cleaning up to the links on the SMS, but before all of that, guess what? It's time for a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT!!!!!

Windsor hard rock band Time are coming to Sault Ontario in a little over two weeks! They have scheduled a concert on August 21st at 10:00 PM at Coch's Corner! It's shaping up to be a good couple of weeks at Coch's in late August and early September, as this new show joins the upcoming concerts featuring Old Roger and Ultraviolence during that time period! Here's hoping Coch's keeps up the good bookings! As for Time, they definitely have a classic hard rock sound to them, but heavy enough that metal fans will find something to like! They sound pretty good, and if you're into some old school hard rock, these guys are worth seeing! Check them out on MySpace to hear some of their original tracks!

Meanwhile, we have official updates to Woods of Ypres' show August 16th at The Speakeasy! It appears as though The Womb have been dropped from the lineup, as they are no longer mentioned on the official Facebook event page for this show. Likewise, it's been deleted from their official MySpace page. This leaves a three band lineup of Woods of Ypres, Inflict, and Necropolis, who have officially been confirmed to be opening as well!

Tickets are still $10 in advance, $15 at the door, but do you know how to get an advance ticket? Simple, just RSVP that you're attending the show on the Facebook event page, and your name will be added to a list to ensure you get in for $10! So if you wanna save $5, RSVP TODAY! Also, lots of Woods of Ypres merchandise will be on sale! Nothing else has changed, but more details are to be announced! Get full details on this show at this location!

And before I skip to another topic, I just wanna mention that the scheduled August 15th concert featuring The Womb appears to be cancelled too. Really, I hadn't heard anything about the show since initially mentioning it anyway, but it's good to see confirmation that it's definitely off.

Next up, is your band interested in some inexpensive black t-shirts for your own merchandising needs? Gates of Winter/ex-Woods of Ypres bassist Steve Furgiuele is looking to sell off a pile of unused black t-shirts to anyone interested! He has 13 long sleeve shirts (3 L, 10 XL) and 11 t-shirts (8 L, 3 XL), all of which are from the American Apparel brand. He's looking for $80 for all of the shirts, and he wants them gone as soon as possible. If you're at all interested, e-mail Steve at fuge68m@hotmail.com! It seems like a good deal to me, and maybe you or your band could use these shirts to make up some killer band merchandise!

Alright, now I have a couple updates from the world of local FM radio. I don't discuss the radio stations here much, but I've got a few recent news items to share! The Sault's Rock Station, Rock 101, has officially added the nationally syndicated radio show "Eddie Trunk Rocks" to their programming lineup! It's a 3 hour radio show dedicated to heavy metal and hard rock, and it's a pretty good show! Eddie Trunk knows his stuff, and he gets loads of great guests from the metal world. It's definitely worth listening to, and you can catch "Eddie Trunk Rocks" every Sunday night at 9:00 PM on 101.3 FM!

And now we come to WLSO, 90.1 FM, The Sounds of Lake State. I'm a fan of 90.1 generally, especially for the metal they often play on the station, and if you guys listen to WLSO regularly, you'll know that for yourself! But this summer, they've shuffled metal to the time block of 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM, when most metalheads certainly aren't up listening to the radio. I know this is a summer thing, and will most likely be amended once the fall semester begins and DJs return, but man, that's just inconvenient for us metal lovers. So if you've noticed a metal absence on WLSO, that's why, and now you know when to get it...for now. (Note, I'm not bashing LSSU, I'm starting my junior year there in a few weeks, I just find the metal block poorly placed.)

Next, I did some cleaning up of the Other Local Metal Links today before this post, and made a couple of changes. The website for Tiny Bubbles (the store on Queen Street that sells metal merchandise, among other things) has expired, and because I can't find another web presence for them, I have deleted them from the Links. But if I find a new page for them, they will return! Two different links have been changed as well, both for the same reason: Defunct local promoters Hitman Productions and local recording studio Stereo Soul Studios have both had their official websites expire or deleted. Unlike Tiny Bubbles though, they both had MySpace pages still active, so just click on their names (or visit the links section) to check them out!

And finally, notice the new banner image at the top of the screen? I figured we should have banners that show off some of the local bands, and I started with a red and black one for Sault Ontario bands (Yes, there will be a blue & black one for Sault Michigan bands, I wouldn't forget about you guys!) The bands were picked for local notoriety and presence of an actual logo, no offense was meant for any one band's exclusion. What do you guys think? That's all for today, expect local concert previews tomorrow for this weekend's metal shows! Stay tuned!
