Local Concert Previews For This Weekend, Plus Assorted Updates!!!

Three straight days with posts, and today, I do believe it's time to preview the local metal concerts taking place this weekend! Let's start with that, beginning with the three metal shows in Sault Michigan this weekend, followed by the one show in Sault Ontario!

First off, tomorrow at 4:00 PM, locals Free Refill will take the stage as a performer at this year's Sidewalk Sales on Ashmun Street in Sault Michigan! If you're not familiar with the Sidewalk Sales, it's essentially a day-long outdoor sale with numerous tables and vendors and family entertainment, and of course, music! Get more info at this location! Luckily, there will be metal, so if you're out shopping around 4:00, check out Free Refill, who are a very promising young band! If you miss them tomorrow, no worries, they'll be at this year's Sugar Island Festival next weekend (Along with Nixxon Dixxon!)

For a preview, let's show you guys this live video of Free Refill covering the Wolfmother song "Joker And The Thief"!

Next up, Sault Michigan hard rockers Shift are back on the live scene for two shows! They will be playing at The Satisfied Frog tomorrow night and Saturday night, both of which will start at 10:00 PM! First local shows from Shift in a while, and they should go good, cause from what I've seen and heard of them, they definitely bring their best at their concerts! Check out Shift on their official MySpace page, and go this weekend if you can, cause they might not be back for a local show until October!

As a preview, here's a video of Shift drummer Mike Vollman delivering a drum solo from a concert earlier this year! Nice to finally see some video of these guys, but there's still only two clips posted...Hopefully more will show up soon!

And finally, we'll head up to Sault Ontario for the last show on the weekend schedule, where new local hard rockers Quite Frankly will be playing at a street party Sunday night on Doncaster Road! If you're not sure where that is, it' a side road off of Korah Road, and it's across from Sussex Street, if that's any help! As well, this will be Quite Frankly's first show with new keyboardist Vince LaTassa!

I don't know a whole lot else, I believe it's free admission, and it's Sunday night. But I know for a fact it's going on, so if you wanna go check them out, head down to Doncaster Road on Sunday! Though I don't have a video or songs to show you guys yet, they play a variety, from classic rock to metal, a little something for everyone! Get more details on Quite Frankly at this location! And before I move onto another topic, Quite Frankly's show later this month at The Speakeasy has been moved up a day to August 20th, so keep that in mind!

Now for a couple assorted news stories! Local black metallers Woods of Ypres have posted a new entry on their MySpace blog today (fans of their Facebook page also received this in their mail), which features lots of updates on their upcoming tour of Western Canada! For their tour itinerary, a show has been added for August 17th at Kilroy's in Thunder Bay, while their scheduled shows in Coaldale, British Columbia and Hangover, Alberta are currently without a venue, but if they secure something, I'll re-add them to the listings on the SMS!

Also, they will have loads of band merchandise for sale, including t-shirts, CDs, vinyl records, patches, stickers, and flasks!!! To read the whole blog entry, which includes lots of details on almost all of their upcoming shows, visit this location! And remember, they'll be HERE on August 16th at The Speakeasy with Inflict and Necropolis, so prepare for a face melting good time!

And finally, Stillbroke have posted a dozen new band photos on MySpace from various locations, one of which can be seen on the right! They look pretty good! Now, we must wait for the release of "Never Enough", and I'll keep you guys posted on any updates on that! That's all for today, and when I have some more news and updates to share, you'll find it here! Thanks everyone!
