Kiss/Papa Roach Updates, Another New Band, And A New Local Concert?

Hey guys, has the news about the Kiss show in December sank in yet? If not, there's some more coverage of it coming up! Plus, I have an update to the Papa Roach concert next month, another newly discovered local band to add to the SMS listings, and a potential new concert for the end of the month! Let's get things rolling!

So yeah, Kiss at The Essar Center on December 15th. The whole city probably knows that by now, and rightfully so, cause it will be a huge concert! And just like SooToday did, other local news sources have picked up on this concert! The Sault Star posted it in today's paper with the tag line "Pucker up KISS fans: rockers are really coming". Mostly tells us what we already know, but it does include remarks from councillor Terry Sheehan (who campaigned to get the Kiss show put on the first leg, successfully) , saying that this "clearly shows the integrity of the band."

SooNews.ca also has two articles about the concert: "KISS Announces Sault Ste. Marie Concert", which has no real "new" stuff to say, while the second (which you can read here) relates to my next point: The Essar Center have officially confirmed the Kiss concert! An event page is up on The Essar Center's official website, which says (among other things) that this concert (and the other new shows) were added so more fans across North America could see them! Also, the article hypes huge pyrotechnics, brand new costumes (pictured), and all of their classic songs, as well as new tracks from their new album, "Sonic Boom"! Ticket information is expected soon, and as usual, I'll keep you guys posted! I wanna go, hopefully you rabid Kiss fans can save a ticket for me?

Oh yeah, here's something interesting I just caught on YouTube before I move on to some more stories: A new YouTube account under the name of "TheSoonews" has been launched (They're not affiliated with SooNews.ca), and I guess they're gonna try an online news show kind of deal. They're affiliated with a new site called See The Soo, which I suppose is gonna join Soonews and SooToday in local news coverage! As a preview or test of some kind, they posted a news clip of one of their staff reporting on the Kiss concert. This guy really seems hesitant while talking about the show, but hey, let's give See The Soo a shot! Check it out for yourself!

Next up, let's discuss the Papa Roach show, which I fear is really getting lost in the mix of the Kiss concert announcement. Any other day, it'd probably be the top story, but hey, it was just a strange coincidence it was announced the very same day! I recently saw a poster for the show, and it mentioned that there actually will be an opening band! Oklahoma pop rock band Aranda will join Papa Roach at Kewadin Casino on November 2nd! You may recognize them for songs like "Still In The Dark" and "Whyyouwannabringmedown". Not metal, but nice to see openers for this show! From some researching, I found out this show is a one off from the two bands' American tour with Jet and Kill Hannah! Remember, this concert is at The Dreammakers Theater on November 2nd at 7:00 PM, tickets are available at 1-800-KEWADIN, at this location, and at the GraphixTwo box office on Great Northern Road!

Alright, now that I've got discussions of the two new big shows out of the way, let's delve back into some talk about locals! More specifically, a newly found local band that's been inactive for at least 4 years! They were Garage Inc., a Sault Ontario hard rock band that featured Blues Harvest singer Jake Rendell (who'd left the band before their last update), noted local solo musician Craig Murphy on guitar, former After-Shock guitarist Brian Lester, Thin Ice bassist Josh Donofrio, and drummer Gavin Prosser! They were active in the mid-2000s, with their Angelfire page having last been updated in March 2005. They have some news and bio information on their page, along with assorted pictures, and their setlist (which included two originals!) No audio to speak of though, but it's another window to local music's past, and there's some interesting stuff there! Check out Garage Inc.'s official website at this location!

And we may have another local concert on the horizon, but I still need more confirmation on this. According to their official MySpace page, local thrash/death metal band Bring The Fallen (formerly known as Necropolis) are apparently playing a show at The Oddfellows Hall on October 30th with North Bay metal band Inflict. You may remember that these two groups played together in support of Woods of Ypres in August! I can't confirm this show's actuality yet though, Inflict's page doesn't mention it, and I've heard no word of it on other sites. But it sounds like an excellent concert, I'll keep you guys posted if I hear more!

On a related note, the concert that same night featuring Ministry of Zen and Sense of Truth at Coch's Corner has had, like, no updates or proof beyond the original post I got the news off of from The705Scene. So, at least for now, I'm gonna remove it from the concert listings. But when and if I hear more proof of this show, I'll put it back up!

That's all I'll post for today, I wanna save some news so you guys aren't overloaded. I have another new local band to share with you guys (hint: Their principal member is in Garage Inc.), and some updates to a couple out of town shows, and maybe some more stuff, but I'll save that for tomorrow or Sunday. Have a good Thanksgiving weekend, keep it metal!
