LOCAL CONCERT ALERT (Tym Morrison), Upcoming Concert Updates, And More!!!

Hey guys, back to the metal news, but remember, if you can help me acquire some local metal CDs that I mentioned in my last post, let me know! Now for today, I have a LOCAL CONCERT ALERT, updates on a handful of other already announced concerts, and a Youtube-related surprise! So here we go!

Caveman Morrison frontman Tym Morrison has scheduled a brand new show for October 23rd! It will be held at The Big Cheese, which is a bar/restaurant in Heyden, which is just outside of town, but still within driving range! According to the Facebook event page, it will take place at 10:00 PM, and there will be hot pizza and cold beer to enjoy while listening to Tym's solo acoustic set! He promises to play your favourite metal songs, as well as pop, classical, and maybe even country! I don't think there's an admission price. Sounds like a good show, Tym's a great guitarist, and if you can make it out to Heyden on the 23rd, why not go see him? To confirm your attendance for this concert, visit the Facebook event page!

Now for some updates on some more local shows! First, you remember Intrepid, the young Sault Michigan band I talked about on Thursday? Well, it looks like they're playing a pair of shows on Halloween weekend at The Satisfied Frog! The reason I'm not announcing this as a new set of shows is because that weekend, Shift are already playing on the same days at the same times! Chances are they're both playing that weekend, and it's not a far stretch to assume that. Intrepid were in The Guitar Studio Summer Rock Camp run by Shift guitarist Joey Beairl, and they're mutual MySpace friends, so it seems likely that Intrepid are supporting Shift on October 30th and 31st! Sounds good to me, the more metal, the better!

Meanwhile, in Sault Ontario, there's more updates for another show later this month! You guys probably know by now that on October 16th, Sykotyk Rampage and Dysfunkshunal Kemistry will be playing at The Outback at Sault College for a BScN program fundraiser/toga party. Well, ticket prices have been announced, and they are $3 in advance, $5 at the door! Nice and affordable! You can buy advance tickets now at The Outback! However, advance ticket or not, you still need to be 19 or older, and signed in by a student if you're not enrolled there. And if you're gonna wear a toga, you can enter to win a prize for the best pimped or most original toga! And of course, the poster has been unveiled, as you can see! Should be a fun night, I'll be there, will you? Confirm your attendance on Facebook at this location!

And finally, I uploaded some new videos to YouTube this morning, and if you're a Gates of Winter fan, you'll probably be very interested! Way back in December 2006, Gates of Winter played a special acoustic show at LopLops Lounge with IT and Startlefish, maybe you were there! IT frontman Nick Jackson filmed Gates' entire performance, and it was posted on Google Video in 2007. You can see the full 20+ minute performance at this location! But Google Video isn't used for video uploads anymore, and I'm sure a lot of people didn't even know it was online, so I figured (WITH THE BEST POSSIBLE INTENT) that I should break the songs up individually and upload them to YouTube!

It's a great performance, which includes acoustic versions of "The Wildwood Pariah", "Omega", and "Winter Flight", along with an untitled pre-Gates song, and covers of Demons & Wizards, Metallica, & Savatage songs! Check them all out at this location, it's an awesome performance that deserves a wider audience! Here's one of them, their cover of Demons & Wizards' "Fiddler On The Green", but check out all the vids!

That's all I have for today, I could add that I bought my Three Days Grace ticket though! On the floor, no less! Should be a great show, and if you're going, I'll see you there in December! Stay tuned for more local metal news, thanks everyone!
